After starting that illustrious thread on food poisioning..... :rolleyes: How is the food at Flame Tree BBQ in AK?

Love it. The portions are huge, we always make a stop there for a counter service every trip. The birds can be a little pushie, but if you don't feed them they will leave you be.

My DH and I like it alot we always make a stop there for lunch every trip.

I love it! Give it a try if you like BBQ - very good. I found a nice spot down by the water to eat, behind the building, in a covered area with tables. Nice and quiet and out of the way.

I love Flame Tree. They do serve "real bbq", which some people don't care for. Cooked with a dry rub and smoked, excellent.

We love Flame Tree too! DH gets the sandwich and I get the 1/2 chicken. Not to be missed in our family! :goodvibes

We love Flame Tree. We have lunch there at least twice on every trip. We wouldn't miss it. If you like BBQ, try it.

I am not a BBQ fan at all but I got the turkey sandwich and it was good. DH got the pork sandwich -- he is a BBQ fan! ... I believe there was chocolate cake for dessert ... that was yum but I was full! The seating area is very nice. Another poster was right about the annoying birds but they didn't hang around me too much ... I couldn't bear to give them turkey (sort of like cannabilism!).

PS: I did not get food poisoning there. :rotfl:

Here to Restaurant Board and I love Flame Tree:goodvibes

Flame Tree BBQ is my favorite--- it's the only place we eat at AK. We can always find a seat- even when it's really busy.

I love their grilled chicken salad and I usually get a basket of fries to dip in their bbq sauce. My bf usually gets ribs or a sandwich.

Flame Tree BBQ is especially nice to eat for dinner on an evening EMH night. Go sit down by the water for a perfect view of Expedition Everest all lit up.

We just ate there last week and liked it. Their corn muffins are sweet, which I don't particularly care for, and their baked beans are a little sweet for my taste, too. But I like that they serve the ribs and sandwiches "dry," giving you the sauce on the side for you to add as much (or as little) as you like. IMHO good bbq doesn't really need sauce, and both the ribs and sandwiches here are just fine without it. But it's there if you like it.

I miss Tusker House, but would eat at Flame Tree again. Very good CS bbq.

How big is a basket of fries ~ enough to share?

Not a big BBQ fan here, but we love it and always eat there once while at AK. The portions are HUGE. My dh loves BBQ and wouldn't miss Flame Tree!!

Last time I ate there in March 2006, both the BBQ chicken and ribs were DRY. I won't be going back. I'll stick with my favorite Italian deli sandwich at Pizzafari, with a pint of Nestle's chocolate milk. :)

Lol! Good to know! That makes it a winner right there. :lmao:

~~~~~~ Sounds like everyone enjoys it for the most part. I will have to check it out when we go. I just realized I should have posted this on the resturant board . Sorry about that. I hope they have bbq chicken though as I am not a big fan of pork. That reminds me I should go check out even print off the menu's.
The Flame Tree rules! It is a must do for us every trip. I even like the birds.
FANTASTIC!!!!! It is my favorite counter service in the parks. Enjoy!
