Flame Tree BBQ at AK

Anybody have any information about the Flame Tree BBQ at the Animal Kingdom?

We'd like to eat there on 9/8, but our Birnbaum WDW Dining Book we have says that this place can only be open seasonally.

My wife really enjoys good BBQ, so any information would be appreciated!!

We have gone there the last three Septembers and plan on dining there again on September 8 for lunch (funny...both of us same day). It is one of our must-do's every trip--we love it...be sure to get a table down by the water (just watch out for the birds!).

This is the best bang for your buck at AK , and I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be open then. The food is delicious; mostly BBQ ribs, chicken etc with side dishes like cornbread. The only toughie is finding a seat at lunch time; last time we had to sit on steps and under bird filled trees . We got pooped on twice. We make this a must-eat at AK!

From what we read, we really wanted to eat there, so I'm glad others have been there during September!!

Just wasn't sure if the free DDP would change plans for this restaurant!

One more tip about Flame Tree.... there are numerous areas to sit to eat. If you walk all the way down to the water and eat down there, you might see a boat carrying Mickey and Goofy.

Yes this area that you are referring to is very good. It's on the water and you can see Expedition Everest.

Flame Tree is hands down the best CS place at Animal Kingdom. I have been 3 times, once in Oct and twice in Sept and the food is always terrific. Going for meal #4 next month.

And we found it by smell. Back in 2002 I was on vacation with my parents and we were walking by from Dinoland and my dad sniffed the air and said..."We are eating there!". I had no clue it was there. We found it by smell and it smells good.

DH and I eat lunch there at least twice every trip. We have never been there when it was closed and have been there every different season. It is very popular and not to be missed. Enjoy!!!

Flame Tree is awesome. As of Sunday they were doing some refurbishing near the restaurant but not to worry it's still open!!!

We LOVE this place! That's one of the main reasons we actually go to AK And we expecially love the seating area upstairs. It's always nice and breezy and relaxing.

I agree with everyone. The food at Flame Tree is delicious

The problem we had was with a gecko and not a bird. In the middle of my meal a gecko landed on our table, right next to my drink - I think it must have fallen from the rafters above us.

It was tiny but it startled me, so I started screaming! The gecko did not move!!! My son had to swat it off the table. I continued eating (the food is THAT good!) but I kept looking up to make sure nothing else fell down on me

Another vote for Flame Tree We ate there last year because of the smell too LOL We love our BBQ. I got the chicken, and I think everyone else got the BBQ sandwiches and sides. Their cornbread muffins are HUGE and delicious. We've planned another CS here this year as well....we didn't have a problem finding a seat, even though the place was PACKED when we were ordering. So just walk down the trail and check out the picnic spots

In the seating area if you look over the edge there is usually lots of water life: fish, turtles and a single alligator. We are a big fan of flametree ourselves, we usually get the bbq chicken plate.

Another vote for walking down around behind the place and sitting by the water. Sure there's birds all over, but we found that none of them bothered us (was plenty of little kids around feeding the birds, so they ignored us and went for the hand-outs from the kids.) The scenery is just outstanding.

We love the BBQ ribs combo -excellent ribs, and cornbread is de-lish!, baked beans o.k. if you like beans. We like to get the Min. Maid frozen lemonade for dessert...it's the prepackaged kind with a lid, so when you're full (you will be...serving sizes are large) you can take the froze.lemonade with you and eat it at a leisurely pace walking around the park...especially good on a hot day (which most of them are! )

Oh, I love that place too. Unfortunately, we have breakfast scheduled at Bomas and Dinner at Spoodles on our AK day. I don't think we'll need a big lunch. Maybe we can just get a couple of entrees and split between the 5 of us.
