We're driving from Miami to Orlando after our Wonder cruise next Mon. I searched the forum & it looks like the Turnpike is all electronic in the Miami area. Is that correct? I just want to be prepared. It also seems many posters do not recommend taking 95 due to crazy drivers. Is 91 North our best & fastest option?

The Florida Turnpike is the most sane and fastest route from Miami to Orlando. MapQuest can do the planning for you. A lot of the tolls in south FL are electronic only. http://www.floridasturnpike.com/tools_paytoll.cfm

turnpike vs toll roads . . .

the toll roads are NOT all electronic in the Miami area

while the turnpike route is the most direct route to the Orlando area I'll say that on my last drive north to Canaveral from the Keys I got OFF the turpike because the drivers were more insane than anything I've seen in 15 years driving from Canaveral to the Keys.

The turnpike EXTENSION ... aka the Miami by-pass IS all electronic and the FIRST segment of the Florida turpike to go this way .....

This "issue" is being blown up by the rental car comanies in hopes of getting you to buy $$$ plans from them. Truth is the state charges very little to capture the lic' plate number and send you a bill. Pennys . . . . but a rental car company may bill you $20 per.
