I have a family member (cousin) who is going with us in November. She is willing to book our rooms with the FL resident rate when it comes out. But I think that means we can't be on the dining plan. Is that correct? She had the DDE card and offered for us to use that with her ( I believe you can use it for a certain number of people) but both my sister and I want to be on the dining plan. My sister has a husband that orders the top thing at the restraunt and lets just say my sister is a bit frugal. Only leads to tension so she wants dining plan so there is no fighting! I am with her because I don't want them fighting :grouphug:

So bottom line is if I take my cousin up on her offer for a discount on the room (if available) then we can't get dining plan. RIGHT?????

Right, you must pay full rack price on the room to get the dining plan and have a base ticket at full price. That is for free dining. What are the rules for DDP?

We bought a one day ticket and will then apply it to our fl resident passes.

The FL Resident can book a room-only rate, but no dining plan as that turns it into a package. Packages include a room and a minimum of a one-day basic ticket.

The Disney Dining Experience card has a name on it, and the server is required to ask for proof of ID. Cousin can't let anyone borrow the card unless they have the same name. I've also been asked to show my AP when I present my out of state driver's license.

So if you want the dining plan then you need to book a package with at least a one-day ticket on it.

I use an AP with the DDE card and am quite happy with it. Lots of food on the dining plan and I would gain way too much weight enjoying every morsel. At Disney the most expensive item on the menu is not always the best.

I wouldn't be borrowing the DDE card as she would be with us at each meal. She said she could use the discount for up to a certain number of people. Not sure what that is. Do you know if this is true? Or does everyperson in your party have to have a DDE?

I tell my server that I will be using the DDE card and give it to him/her (and show my driver's license) so they can ring up the ticket. The server needs to have a manager put the DDE discount in there. Your cousin will need to be the person paying, so you can't have two credit cards to run or seperate tickets.

DDE card is a straightline discount, and includes alcohol. Does not apply for many of the DTD restaurants (Fultons, Portabello Yacht Club, House of Blues, Bongos). Cover CS at AK and resorts without sit-down restaurants (such as the Values). Does not include pizza delivery or the purchase of refillable mugs. SOmetimes I forget to use the card at CS places.

With the DDE card I tip what the discount is, or round up to the next dollar. I don't penalize the server for my saving money.

I love my DDE card!
