Ok question for Fl resident AP holders.
We haven't had Annual passes since they went to the magic band. We took last year off and didn't visit the parks. But we are now ready to get back at it. I'm wondering though in the past if you purchased your AP online through the site they gave you like a voucher that you turned in when you got to the parks to get your actual card tickets. But now with this whole booking FP thing I'm wondering if I go online and purchase our AP will they send us magic bands so we can prebook that stuff or will we still need to wait until we get to the parks?

For every AP once it's purchased and linked to your account you can make your FP reservations. When you go to the theme park you'll have to stop at guest services to activate your APs and get your AP/discount card. For your first trip this RFID card will give you access to everything you need. Once your pass is activated you will see the option in your MDE account to customize your AP MBs. You can then use the card or the MB interchangeably HOWEVER you will need to show your card to get your AP discount on food and merch. HTH

This is unconfirmed but apparently you can now customize ap bands before you activate it. it takes about 10 days to recieve them.

Ours don't show up yet either. I expect we will have to wait till we activate our Passes, and will have the MB for the next trip.

Disney really should allow AP holder to opt out of MB, with some incentive. Give us a "credit" to save up for a deluxe MB - three "credits" and you get a light-up custom band. We will usually try to use our pass three time in the year, so that's one Pass Holder MB and three resort MB. Granted out of the goodness of our heart we could opt out of getting these.... but why?

I have a question about activating an annual pass, I want to buy a FL resident pass but I want to be clear about when it becomes active, if I buy a pass now to get a room only discount will that activate it? If I make fast pass+ choices will that activate it? I want to be wise about when it becomes active meaning if it becomes active when I get a room discount and I don't go until January I don't want to lose 2 months of activity.

If you purchase by phone or on-line, you have to stop at either a park ticket window or guest relations location to activate the pass.

You can purchase it now. You can make fastpasses now with normal 30 and 60 days rules (60 being if you have a disney resort reservation). You turn in the voucher (people here call it activating it) at any ticket booth or guest relations to get the actual pass. You'll need everyone getting the pass to be there in person. You'll need id for everyone that is 18 or older and with a florida pass you need proof of florida residency if your id doens't provide that already. (lease, recent utility bill, etc). the website has a full list somewhere.
