My drivers license expires June 4th. Our trip is the 13th and I'm in the Bahamas now so it won't be renewed in time.

Can my passport and a credit card bill will FL billing address work as proof of FL residency?
thanks,

Why didn't you renew your DL ahead of time? Are you planning on not driving anywhere?
You can renew online. I would do that now so it may be waiting for you when you get back.

Shouldnt you be worrying about driving on an expired license?

But to be helpful, many states allow you to renew your license online. Since you have internet access, maybe you should try renewing it now, and then have it by the time of your trip.

Can you renew online? They mail it very quickly. I got mine within 4 days of ordering it.

These are the official rules:

Florida Resident tickets are only available to actual Florida Residents and cannot be purchased for out-of-state family or friends.

An adult Florida Resident may purchase Florida Resident media for more than one Florida Resident from any location that provides an exchange certificate and not an actual ticket.

Children under the age of 18 are not required to provide proof of Florida residency if they are accompanied by an adult with valid proof of Florida residency

If the Guest has an exchange certificate, a valid form of Florida ID will be required when the exchange certificate is redeemed for the actual pass

One ticket only per valid proof of Florida residence (a Florida resident may buy tickets for minors in the party)

Exchange Certificates may say:

"After sale..., may not be transferred except as a gift." This means that the certificate may be given as a gift, so long as the recipient meets the defined Florida residency criteria.

"Purchase and redemption of this exchange certificate requires proof of Florida Residency."

The following items are the only documents accepted as proof of Florida Residency:
* Valid Florida State Drivers License
* Valid Florida State issued ID Card with Florida Address
* Valid Military ID stationed at one of the Florida Military Bases listed below:
(List of bases removed as unneeded)

As of August 20, 2010, Voter Registration Card is no longer an allowed ID
As of August 20, 2010, Florida University/College Student ID is no longer allowed

For Part-Year Residents the following original documents are acceptable.

Note that fax and photocopies are not acceptable, that bills and mail cannot be more than two months old, that PO Box addresses are not allowed, and items related to Time Shares are not permitted.
Must have a driver's license or state photo ID card from another state, or a non-US Passport and at least one of the following items which does show a Florida address:
* Monthly mortgage statement
* Current homeowner's insurance policy or bill, current automobile registration, insurance policy or bill or current utility bill (Power/Phone/Cable/Water).
* Statement from a financial institution showing checking, savings or investment information or mail from a Federal or Florida State, County or City government agency.

Effective August 20, 2010 Proof of Rent, Mortgage or Ownership such as a Deed, mortgage payment booklet or residential lease are no longer allowed.

Just an FYI: FL says that you can renew 1 time online and than you have to do it in person the next time. There is an exception for military and their dependants.

I had misplaced my license right before going to Disney, and they said a bill, bank statement, mortgage, and a few other things - Any of those would suffice at Disney to prove residency. I didn't need to drive, and it was the night before the trip. I figured I would address it when I got home.

There is a new law that just went into effect that anyone who fails to renew their license by the expriration date will receive 2 points on their license!!! Not to mention there is also a fine you have to pay.

I can't find this Googling around. Do you have the link? Thanks!

I would go renew it - they will give you a "paper" license, take that & your old license for the picture

Are you sure? This is not mentioned anywhere on Florida's DMV website; in fact, it appears that 3 points is the smallest amount of points you can get for any violation.

This makes no sense!

No one is required to have a drivers license unless they are operating a vehicle.

So how could you get points unless you were operating a vehicle on an expired license?

Prior poster did not say they were going to drive without a license. Only that they would take care of it later.

Many states allow up to six months after expiration for renewal without testing, including Ohio.

In Florida you should get the licence right there. Also in Florida you can renew up to 18 months early.

Cheshire,
Do you know are part-year residents eligible/able to use these same documents to access the FL resident room rates or are those rates only available to the full time FL residents? When you call, the CM's are not well versed and trained in this info. I wouldn't want them to book and find out when they get there that their documentation isn't adequate and then they charge them rack rate! :scared1:

This is a ticketing announcement. I am not familiar with the Resort rules and do not know if they are the same or different.
