Can anyone recommend a city or area in Florida to visit other than the Orlando area at this time of the year. We are not into boating or kayaking and I don’t like slimy creatures at all. We do like the beach and historical areas. We’ve done St Augustine and loved it. We’ve done Port Canaveral before and the Tampa/Clearwater beaches. Really looking for something with a lot of history if possible.

Key West
Daytona
West Palm
Ft Lauderdale/Miami
Panama City
Good list.
All of the above, Daytona maybe not as historical as the others which have a lot of attached history. Key West is more than just a party city. There is a lot of history there. I really enjoy what Flagler did for the east coast of Florida. Plant did the same for the west coast, maybe not getting as far.

Maybe visit Titusville/Cocoa Beach and the Kennedy Space Center? You have a decent chance of seeing a rocket launch, too, with the rate SpaceX has been launching this year.

Sanibel Island is my favorite. I also heard about another cute little town right before you cross over the bridge going to Sanibel.
Sanibel is still recovering from Ian. Many of the beaches are still closed and a number of businesses have not reopened. They will recover, but I would wait to visit Sanibel.

Yes, it is so sad!!! I agree and would avoid Ft Myers and Sanibel for now. There is still so much damage.
