Mouseplanet reported that it is underway, but I have not read one thing about it on these boards!

Is it happening? Any thoughts? Anyone seen it?:smooth:

as long as it doesn't turn out like that birthday cake fiasco (for the 25th I think it was?)...I don't care what they do to it. hehehehe

DL or WDW?

I know DL's castle started its rehab on Monday but I havent heard about WDWs getting anything

 I am pretty sure that Cinderella's Castle is being painted????

I saw pictures of the test painting of Sleeping Beauty Castle at DL but I haven't seen, read, or heard anything on the painting of Cinderella Castle.

Here are the details I could find on the situation:

Cinderella Castle painting details emerge

We've got some more details on the painting of the lower half of Cinderella Castle. As we reported last week (link), the castle is getting a gilding treatment similar to Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland in celebration of the original park's upcoming 50th anniversary.

The painting project began on June 13 with draining of the castle moat 12 to 18 inches in order to install scaffolding. The scaffolding installation took place at night from June 14 to 20 while the Park was closed. Scaffolding was installed with a regular scrim during the installation phase, but a castle block-printed scrim will replace it for the duration of the project. The moat was refilled on Friday. All block work on the lower half of Cinderella Castle is being painted, from the lower turrets down to water line, from June 21 to August 22. Most of the work will be done while the park is closed, with minimal work during park operating hours (behind the scrim). The scaffolding will be removed during the week of August 22, and the castle should look radiant when it's completely exposed again on Sunday, August 29.

That's great!!!! My sister just came back last month and when she told me that the castle was being painted I was hoping that it would done by the time we went in November. I didnt think that it would take 5 months to finish. But sometimes you never know with Disney. Is something being done in the interior? She said that you couldnt go inside unless you were eating in the restaurant, and there was a different entrance.

I don't think anything could be as ugly!!

I agree with InstImpres, that 25th Castle paint job was hideous!

I'm glad to see that I am not alone in hating the 25th paint job! Ugh, that was ugly!

Yes!!! My dh and I thought it was hideous!!!

We will be going in December and can't wait to see the new painting. As far as the 25th celebration, we actually loved it. Looking back, I guess it was a bit harsh but it was the first time I had seen the castle in over 10 years and was so excited to be there with my boyfriends and his 9 year old son that we all loved it. We even purchase the mini version by Ian Frasier and had it signed by him. I also have a copy of the original version and love that one too.

I can't believe its being painted!

I didn't notice a thing and we went to Magic Kingdom 5 different times!!!

I thought the entrance was just blocked because of Cindy's Surprise Celebration. It seemed to be going on everytime we were near the castle, so we just went around the side where Cindy's fountain is.

I need my eyes checked, I guess!

How long is this celebration supposed to be going on?

The official celebration starts May 5, 2005 and will go until (I believe) July 17, 2006.

Cool, we're going to be down from Aug 27th until Sept 2nd. I hope it looks good, and is done on time, I'd hate to miss it by a day.
