FL AP renewal question

I currently have the FL resident pixie pass that is expiring oct 28th. We are heading down oct 18-23, and I would like to upgrade the pass to a Pirate pass to include the weekends.

I would be within my 60 day renewal, but I assume the Pirate will not begin until oct 28th? Is there a better way to make this work? If I upgrade to Pirate with a date of oct 18th, its not pro-rated correct?

Am I better off buying a second AP starting Oct 18th? Is that even allowed?

Thanks!

The Pirate will not begin until your Pixie expires. I don’t believe there would be a problem buying and activating a new Pirate pass, but I would anticipate some issues at the gate unless you set up a brand new MDE account for the new passes. Disney’s IT might get confused if it sees two active passes at the same time for the same account.

This is an interesting scenario. I used to buy regular tickets to visit on the weekend, then upgrade them into what is now called the Pixie Pass, but they closed that loophole.

Anyhow, you can upgrade your Pixie to a Pirate right now, then renew the Pirate at a discounted rate.

You will have to calculate if the cost of doing this is less than just buying two resident tickets on the blocked-out dates if you don't plan to visit until October.

How about a trip to the water parks on those blocked-out dates? Cheaper tickets. Move the trip back until the Pirate Pass is active?

Perhaps someone has a better idea.

Thank you. we are locked into that time due to a college break.

I was going to ask, can I buy a two/three day pass to get me through the weekend and then use that to upgrade to Pirate within my 60 day window (done while there of course) or is that the loophole you are stating is fixed.

You should be good to upgrade to the pirate pass so long as the weekend dates you went on with the regular ticket aren't blocked out.

The loophole they closed was going on the weekend then upgrading to the Pixie, which isn't good on the weekend, and getting the full value of the tickets to upgrade.

I would suggest talking to Disney about your scenario before doing anything. Since the Pirate Pass wasn't available for a long time and many people had to settle for Pixie passes, they may have a better solution for guests like you.

If you upgrade a regular ticket to a Pirate and start over you would miss out on the discount you get by continuing as a passholder, or maybe there is some way they can fix that.

I have always done my AP upgrades in the parks and they seemed to know the answer for everything.
