I am a single dad and will be taking my 10 year old daughter to IOA and wanted to know if she would be OK riding this by herself as I will be unable to.

TIA!

Hello,

I am assuming that your daughter is not intimidated by motion rides? She first can try the Spiderman ride. I have heard the Harry Potter FJ ride described as "Spiderman on Steroids."

Both FJ and Spiderman typically have Single-Rider lines which should cut down on wait times considerably.

Depends on her I guess, if she is fearless like my DD (7) then you should be okay. The only concern I have was that once when I rode FJ the ride let off at a different area to allow some people in wheelchairs on and that caused us to have to go up a floor in an elevator, then down some halls, then down 2 floors in another elevator. If that was to happen just make sure she knows where to meet you at the child swap area so you don't get seperated.

They should let you wait in there for her to get off the ride...that was our plan if it were to happen to our group. That was only if we chose to do the single rider line to get on faster. :)

I did the Single Rider line one day when DH took the kids back to the hotel and I rode it twice in 15 minutes and it had a 75 min wait.

As long as she doesn't panic at the site of dementors, dorky spiders, etc. She'll be fine.

If you are asking the more delicate question about whether she'll be safe from pervs, I'd say yes, once they're locked into the harness, the range of motion is pretty limited, but if worried, strike up a conversation with people in line with kids and see if there is a group of three she can tag along with.

And, it's not uncommon if you are there during slower load times, like early am, or evening, that she might be on the ride vehicle by herself.

If it were me, I would walk her through the queue and when she gets on, go through the exit and go to the exit store, Filch's Emporium of Confiscated Goods. You can stand right where she will enter the store and she shouldn't be able to get lost or anything. The Team Members are very helpful and you can ask them where to go when you read the boarding area.

Just a big thanks to this forum and all the useful info that is here. My daughter and I had a great time at WWoHP yesterday. Got to the park around 7am. Stood in line for WWoHP at 8am and they started letting everyone in at 8:30. Ollivanders was about a 45 min. wait. Gee that store is tiny for all the people. Then off to FJ and it was just great. Was about a 60 min. wait but did not feel like. Strike up a convo with people in line and time moves somewhat faster. Was able to have my daughter ride alone w/o issue and I was able to stand right where they let people off and had a nice conversation with a TM. Than it was off to Hippogriff(sp?). Wow! You sure are up close and personal with that ride while waiting in line. Daughter loved it. Made our way to the Three Brooms for lunch. About a 20 minute wait for that. Had the fish and chips. Must say it was tasty. I tried the pumpkin juice. Oh my! that was a surprise! Butterbeer was my fav. All in all got through with WWoHP in about six hours. Still a little more to see there but now can slow down next time. Thanks again people of the disboards!:thumbsup2

I am glad you guys had fun & it all worked out great....:goodvibes
Now that you know she can handle FJ, she can do the singles line & not wait 60 minutes anymore ;)

Great!

We had a nice conversation in the hour we were trapped in line. A nice almost "grandmotherly" pair of ladies was ahead of us. They basically entertained my two oldest daughters by showing them the pictures from their camera that they had taken over the past few days. LOL! All of them seemed to be enjoying themselves and I got to entertain my youngest.
