FJ getting Supersized

Those seats are slim. Not much room for women who have "birthing hips". I fit luckily. I'm not sure how changing the harness will help anyone other than bustier people. I would be a bit scared to ride it without those three clicks.

Maybe Universal decided that SAFETY was more important then letting the overweight guests ride? Maybe Universal thought that the overweight guests would take responsibility for their actions, and not blame someone else for their own mistakes?

I'm overweight. I wasn't offended by your statement AT ALL. I lost 10 lbs before we go to US. I fit! Thank GOD! Some people don't like to hear the truth and the truth is the ride isn't built for everyone. I'm honest beyond belief. I eat too big portions and eat out a TON! I don't exercise. I'm my own worst enemy. It offends me more when people use words like "Shrek" or "Pooh Sized". No it's not cute I'm freaking FAT. The spin on the word doesn't help anyone.

I would HATE to know that someones safety was in jeopardy because people were trying to make a ride accessible for me and my size.

I'm sorry. I take responsibility for my actions. I shouldn't have been harsh, but it seemed like the MAJORITY of people were blaming the ride restraints, which to me seems to be taking the "I'm always right" mentality.

Obviously I was mistaken.

Well, I think for those of us that are larger, this whole conversation straddles an awkward line. Yes, it is our own fault that we are the sizes that we are (barring some medical or medicinal reason, of course, there are some drugs that make you gain weight like crazy). We have little room to gripe that it's not fair or what not. We've done it to ourselves.

Having said that, however, clearly it is possible for these companies to accommodate larger people to a degree. Obviously the more intense the ride, the harder this gets. But this country's, and the world's, rapidly growing waist line isn't going away any time soon, as much as we'd all like to see that happen. You'd think on a ride like FJ, where there aren't any inverted loops or long drops like a roller coaster, they would have thought about that in the first place.

It's not a question of overweight people doing it to themselves. Alot of "normal" sized people were getting turned away when it first opened and at the soft openings. That's just dumb on the ride designer's part.

This is true. And they should have known broad shoulders and large chests might be a problem in and of it's own right. Don't know why they didn't see that. We Americans are just statistically bigger people, and I don't mean waist line. Compared to the rest of the world, we are taller, broader, and bigger boned generally speaking. Creating a ride in a family oriented ride in America that caters to the small framed was bad planning. Had this been a ride designed for kids exclusively, it'd be different.

However there was something on the first page about overweight people specifically. I should have quoted Timmy Boy's apology but I didn't think about it ;)

I don't know. I was there and never saw anyone pulled from the line. I did see a family stopped right before boarding. The dad and grandfather(?) couldn't fit into the test seats.

Post of the year.

Althought it's been mentioned before, I think most people are missing the fact that the seat isn't any bigger than it was before.
The seat and harness are the same. The locking mechanism has been rotated 25 degrees clockwise, so the ratcheting "clicks" occur higher up.

I have no idea how to even visualize that, but it sounds intriguing. :rotfl:
