Fixing a bleach stain

Hi guys,

I wear a very expensive scrub top to work. It's a top of the line brand, and it is also custom embroidered with my name. Would cost near $70 to replace. Unfortunately, a part on the back got bleached. I have no idea how, but it's noticeable. It's a black top. Does anyone have some tips?

You have to dye it (the whole shirt, not just the area, so that it matches). The marker thing would probably work but it's only temporary.

I think sharpie is fairly permanent but you have to set it with heat.

I've used a sharpie on small bleach spot on a pair of jeans before. It lasted through a couple washings and then had to be reappplied.

I dripped a couple drops of bleach on my black bath rug last time I scrubbed the shower. I filled the marks in with a sharpie. It doesn't get washed as often as towels do so if it wears off, I'll just re-sharpie.

As previously stated, you will need to dye the whole top, which will also dye the embroidery. And since the best way for most dyes to "take" is in a pot on the stove you will be ruining the pot for future food use.

I've never in my life paid that kind of money for a scrubs top. Too many things can get splattered on them, bleach being the least of them.

How big is the spot?
I'd say about 2 inches or so. It's just really upsetting :(

I know it costs a lot, but unfortunately it's out of my control. My regular scrubs for school only cost $14 lol!

Thanks for the tips, everyone! I'm thinking of just dying the part that's bleached for now. It'll look a little off for now, but it will be a lot less noticeable than it is now

I wish it didn't cost so much! Lol. I have no choice, though. It's an odd top, so it has to be bought online, plus shipping. The embroidering is a bit... Pricey. I work in a nursing simulation, teaching, and research lab at my University. Sigh. Colleges, right? ;)

Maybe the same people who decide prices for college textbooks are setting the price on your scrub tops? ;)

A laundry marker might be more stable through the wash.

Had no idea that existed. Thanks so much, definitely checking today after work!

I really appreciate everyone's advice. You've all been really helpful to me. It's my first time ruining clothes, if you can tell ;)

Go to Michael's Arts & Crafts or Walmart and get the Tulip SOFT fabric paint OR the DecoArt SoSOFT Fabric Paint in black and a small, stiff white bristle paint brush, about a 1/2 inch to 1 inch brush.

Lightly DAMPEN the fabric and paint on the fabric paint. Heatset with iron according to the directions on bottle.
