May be a dumb question but do fixed weeks go on the market as whole point contracts or as fixed weeks?
I would love to purchase a fixed week contract

The fixed week and the number of points that it's worth is written onto the deed. Therefore, when the deed changes hands, the fixed week and points are transferred to the new owner. So when it goes onto the market, one can really advertise it as being "Week XX" fixed week and worth XYZ number of points. Best of both worlds...if it's a popular fixed week.

Thanks for all the info. I definitely need to be on the lookout now for my next one 🤪

As mentioned before, they are quite rare, and it might be more rare to find one that lines up with a week and room type that you'd like at a price point that's acceptable. Looking at some of the numbers just from Riviera and the new VGF2/Big Pine Key from this monthly report: https://www.dvcnews.com/dvc-program...n-club-direct-sales-edge-upward-in-march-2023

So far at Riviera, only 111 fixed week contracts have been sold.
So far at VGF2 / Big Pine Key, only 39 fixed week contracts have been sold.

I have no idea how many have been sold at other resorts.

I bought 2 fixed weeks at Riviera. There are certain times that I'd like to have a WDW vacation, so a fixed week generally works OK for me. Also, I may overthink things, but long term, it might become more difficult to book the dates you want at Riv. As more contracts become resales over the years, you'll be competing with more people who can only book at Riv.

That is a very good point, regarding the resale restriction and availability.

We also purchased a fixed week at RIV, can’t remember the week number but it’s usually the first week of October, this way we get Food & Wine AND Mickey’s Not So Scary. 🙂

I wonder how many fixed weeks per resort are offered as well. My guide almost sold me on a Christmas fixed week at CCV, he said it’s rare they have them to offer, it was $$$
RIV feels more adult to me so I decided on that one.

How about renting out fixed weeks? Say, week 52 at Aulani?

I've never tried it, but I think it is fine to do that. However, you have to call or chat with DVC member services to change the guests listed. And on that note, even though our GW contracts list both me and my DW, they only put me on the fixed week reservations at first. I have to chat with them to add my DW to the reservations.
