Fixed Week/Favorite Weeks - Changes when Canceled

I have linked in the FW Information thread to this thread for now. As we get clarity I can update my FW Info thread with the information as a better notice to people.

Wow, this is pretty messed up. I hope it is just a temporary glitch. Hiding your points from you is very bad. Fortunately, both of my FWs are cheaper than their corresponding normal week the way that the points charts have been rebalanced. I'm not planning on canceling one of my FWs, but good to know just in case.

Due to the recent upgrades to the DVC site, if you cancel a favorite/guaranteed week - the difference do not show up on your original contract points. It is "gifted" back and is not visible until you book a future reservation. Also, they are not bankable.
That goes against the purchase contract and is not correct.

Earlier this week I cancelled a PVB fixed week that I own. It happens to be a week that now requires more points when it is booked than what the fixed week has so not quite the same as it used to be when the week required less points. I looked at the activity and see that when they cancelled it my account was 1st credited for 139 points and then the 9 extra points above what I own was transferred to the developer so in my case I properly received my correct points back in my account, all visible. It sounds like they are doing that in reverse for your cancellation that otherwise requires fewer points if booked. If so it almost seems like DVC is trying to cover differences for the weeks that now require more points by restricting points they should be giving back. I'll give them a benefit of the doubt for now that the system was set up incorrectly vs a deliberate choice to do this.

I'd be writing a rather stern letter and pull up the language from contract when you purchased that describes what happens when you cancel. I'm not positive but believe it outlined it clearly.

I don't think it needs to be a sternly worded letter---at least, not yet. Just a "hey, this seems wrong" letter would be fine. This feels very much like a left-hand/right-hand situation, as an unexpected consequence of how the site was changed to track transfers differently in light of the fact that internally the FW premium/penalty looks like a transfer.

In other words, I suspect it is just an honest and unepxected mistake.

I guess the history of point reallocations still lingers with me. And pool gate. And a couple others that more coffee is needed to recall.
Stern means frank and factual. I didn't state to threaten with a lawsuit or anything and I don't see the need to be cajoling about it. Be precise. This is not a correct handling of the cancelled fixed week points. "this seems wrong" in a way implies it might be correct. Allocation like this to DP's is a decision by somebody and an incorrect one.
