And I can only pack while the kids are in school--yikes! I need to do laundry tomorrow! ;-)

Have fun on your trip!!!! Are you surprising your kids? Curious question I have is why are you not telling them? (assuming you are surprising them) My kids LOVE helping plan out our trip. I can't think of taking that away from them. I have nothing against you surprising them (if you are) just curious the reason.

Hey, I am in a similar situation. We leave on Sunday :cool1: and I haven't started packing. Usually, I am done packing weeks in advance. But this time, life has taken over...So, I'm off to do laundry now...:laundy:

Yay for your upcoming trip!! :yay:

I love that marathon laundry day right before a Disney trip. It seems that both my washer and dryer run from day to night.

We've been to WDW twice so far and each time, I've done my packing the night before. Crazy, I know, but like other PP's have said, life sometimes gets in the way.

Have a wonderful time!! :)

1. It's their birthday surprise ;-)

2. My son is Autistic/Aspergers and obsesses. We can't tell him about much of anything too far in advance. Unlike many on the spectrum, he handles change just fine, but if we told him, life would be unbearable because he'd be ready to go (as in literally packed and waiting at the door) every day.

I know from experience--this works better for us ;-)

I'd be a basket case! I pack waaaayyyy in advance.

Makes sense that you need to keep it quiet until it's time to go but I'm sure it's hard to handle doing all of that just during certain times. Do you feel less sure of what you've done because you can only do it for short periods of time like that?

Enjoy the trip!!

We leave in 7 days and I also haven't begun to pack and I need to pack for all 6 of us! :scared1: Dh is working practically round the clock on a project that has to be finished in order for him to leave for 10 days.

With a newborn that does NOT want to be put down this is proving to be very difficult. Add in that I have the huge kid 2 kid sale that I'm part of to get ready for this weekend as well.

Um yeah....I think I may be a bit crazy! :lmao:

Not really. I make lists and lists and lists in advance. then it's just a matter of packing the lists. And lets face it--we aren't leaving the planet. Just about anything crucial can be picked up in Orlando save eyeglasses & contacts & prescriptions :-)

My biggest must-do is to ship their birthday presents tomorrow (since we can't take wrapped packages on the plane I am fedex'ing those down to the hotel).

You win! ;-) I was supposed to do our Mothers of Multiples Tag Sale saturday but DH just looked at me and asked "have you LOST YOUR MIND?" -- and he was right, I opted out this year.

We will leave Edinburgh at 12.15pm on Easter Sunday, one night overnight at Gatwick airport then 2 weeks in Orlando.

I will start the packing or all 3 of us at......11am Sunday morning!

Hate hate hate packing and leave it till the last possible minute. As long as we have our passports and money anything else is a bonus!

DH loves being married to me!! :rotfl::lmao:

We're not leaving for 6 months and I already have a packing list  I actually LOVE to pack, it's so much fun!

I really wanted to surprise my kids with this trip. We just went last May and I thought that would be fun. But, the kids kept asking if we'd ever get to go back and if so when. We all had so much fun on our first trip to Disney that I wanted them to have the trip to look forward to again.

I read about how everyone surprises their kids and I swear I will do it one day! How exciting that must be!!!!

Good luck with your big surprise and have a wonderful trip. And.... the packing will eventually get done!

Have a great trip! I can understand why you are keeping it a secret.
I have thought about keeping it a secret for the fun of it before, but the fact is there is no way I could b/c I am a big kid myself and talk about it all the time and have been shopping for months for summer clothes, bathing suits etc. It will never be a secret in my house, but at least my kids like the planning. Good luck with packing!! :goodvibes

That is a good reason then. I was just curious I have friends that would not tell the kids where they were going. They told them they were going to the shore and the day of they told them the truth. Even though the kids were excited they really wanted to go to the shore. LOL I like to hear reasons!

It is hard for me to pack when they are here because I'm so busy with Mommy this and that! We leave on March 26th. I'm down to the one week mark so I started mine today.

Hope you have a great time!

I so know where you are coming from, my son (6) is also Aspergers & he'd be asking me everyday 10 times a day "how long till we go to DL" so we decided not to say anything to him until the night before we fly out...

You will make it! Once you get started you will plow right through it!

I normally start packing at least 3 weeks before we go (off season so need warm and cool clothes- a pain!) Around New Years I had back surgery and just could not get motivated to pack. I also have a 4 year old who just loves to help me pack... everything in the house including the kitchen sink! She is only in preschool 2 days a week for 2.5 hours, boy did I have a few marathon sessions! Once I got started I was fine and finished pretty quickly.

I have to say packing for a summer trip vs a winter trip is a MUCH different experience! Winter trips for me are so much more work! When we go in Jan we have everything from swimsuits to fleece gloves. Stroller blanket, light fleece pullovers, heavy fleece jacket, cold weather shoes, sandals, ugh! I can't wait to pack for our Labor Day trip... sleeveless tops, dresses and NO GLOVES!

We always leave around 9pm since we drive. I do laundry all day that day and then we pack when the laundry is all done. Don't feel bad about not being packed.

Well we are now at T minus 26 hrs and counting, and not one thing is packed yet. (I do have complete lists made, however!) I have a MOUNTAIN of laundry to do tomorrow (today?? it's late ;-) and I need to find their new summer clothes I ordered (assuming they have most likely outgrown last years!) Yikes. I feel totally in control, which means I just don't grasp the reality of the situation, LOL!!

Leave in one week for eight days at Fort Wilderness. Haven't started packing yet. Yikes. DH & I both work full-time with four children of various ages. Must plan meals in the camper too & shop for that. Also, have to get to AAA for passes. I do have some lists from previous trips although another consideration is that this is our longest trip thus far. Keep telling myself not to get too worked up. If we forget something, we know where Walgreens & Walmart are.

T minus 13 hrs and not one thing is packed yet, although I am finally ready to start (laundry done, errands run!) sheesh....could I wait ANY longer?? ;-)
