Fitflops Good for Fallen Arches?

I apologize if this is the wrong board for this question. I couldn't seem to figure out exactly where it fit.

At any rate, I've seen a lot of threads touting Fitflops to help with foot pain. I hate wearing sneakers in the parks, but have fallen arches and generally need the support. Do Fitflops provide enough support that I'd be able to wear them instead?

Inquiring minds (and feet) want to know! :confused3

I think so. My mother only wears fit-flops; has a closet full of shoes and wants to give them away because she can no longer wear them due to foot problems. Loves her fit-flops. I can walk miles in a pair of fit-flops. I can't walk a mile in regular flip flops. Find a pair and try them on. My mother buys hers at Macy's.

I also have fallen arches, and no way, not enough arch support on the fit flops to walk a lot. They're OK for a casual stroll through the mall, but more than an hour or two & severe pain ensues.

Bite the bullet, get a good pair of athletic shoes with very good arch support.(go to an athletic shoe store -- not just Famous Footwear type store--and talk to the salesman, explaining the fallen arches & need for arch support. I have had the best luck with New Balance.)

I just got new sneakers at New Balance in prep for our trip in Aug (so I have a month to really break them in)

I got a good set of arch supports to go with it. New Balance shoes have removable insoles for arch supports, and the New Balance store near us has good arch supports. They let you try the different ones they have before you buy so you can feel which will give you the most support.

OP hates wearing sneakers. I understand; I only wear sneakers for work-outs. I despise them.:confused3

Maybe a sports sandal like Keens; love mine. I sometimes wear Birkenstocks to the parks; high arches. And, I have no problems with Fit Flops.

Comfortable sandals are a must for me; teach school and do a lot of walking in addition to daily work outs. I walk in sandals; keeps them broke in for WDW.

I'm really curious about Keens - are they comfortable? Does your foot slip and slide in them much?

I have a bad knee (torn meniscus) and mostly stick to Croc flops. I'd love to switch to Keens if at all possible. Anybody have any experience with something similar?
