Fit Before 50: Barb's Journal to a Slimmer, Healthier Self

Happy Anniversary to you and your DH, Barb!!!! :goodvibes

Great job getting your workout in!!! :cheer2: And you're down a pound already?!?!?! GREAT job!!!!:thumbsup2

I hope you have a nice day!

Happy Anniversary! :cool1: And yes, I agree, he's a keeper if he does all those things! And I'm sure he's wonderful in other areas too. :goodvibes

That is awesome that you only gained a couple lbs and that one is gone already! You have a good plan for the next couple weeks.

Just getting a chance to catch up on some journals myself.

Happy Anniversary! You have a lot of exercise planned for the next few months. I love the 30-Day Shred. It's a great, quick workout. I haven't made it past level 1, though. Sounds like you had a great time on your trip.

so glad you had a great time! that's great to hear, and how fun you get to write for them about the time -- that's neat!

happy anniversary, and congrats on 18 years!

Thanks for all the anniversary wishes. We went to DHS before we went to Melting Pot on the 14th and wore celebratory buttons for the first time ever. So many CMs and even guests made nice comments.

I did my Shred this morning and am glad I did; we went to Epcot for a while and I joined Facebook yesterday so I spent too much time messing with my page. Lots of work to do tomorrow...ugh. Exercise will be the Shred or the Wii, depending on whether I just feel like popping the DVD in or hauling out the balance board.

I really gotta get back on my wii fit....I've been on the treadmill more cause it's still new :) Maybe I'll do that tomorrow night.....anyways, happy anniversary, was it busy at DHS and Epcot this past weekend? We were at MK on the 14th and it was PACKED!!!! SM got to 120 minutes!!! Pirates was at 40 minutes, don't think I've EVER seen it that bad!!!!! I don't usually go during the busy times either.....so that could be it!! HAHA

Great new pictures in your signature, Barb!:goodvibes Is that you and your DH on your recent Disney cruise?

Great job getting Shred in!!:cheer2: I haven't done that workout in a couple of weeks.

I hope you have a great day today!

Yep, that's DH and I at the Castaway Club party and me hanging out on Castaway Cay.

Hubby is expressing some interest in my Walk Away the Pounds DVDs but he wants something that includes abs so he'll probably strick with the Shred. I don't have much trouble doing the DVD except the push-ups...UGH! Killer!

Pirates at 40 mins.? Yikes! But then again, I shouldn't be surprised because Spaceship Earth was at 35, even later in the day. Bummer 'cause I was hoping to ride it on the way out. Test Track was down for a while but they didn't stop people from getting in line so even Fastpass was literally out the door. We had FPs but I can't even imagine what the wait would have been so we gave them to another couple and bailed.

What level of Shred are you doing? For me, the pushups in L2 are easier, then they get a little harder again in L3. Just focus on how awesome your arms will look! :goodvibes

wow barb i've just spent ages reading your articles!! they're great, & i'm very envious as i've always said i'd love to be a travel writer about WDW!

the room looked fab, my DD will be sooooo jealous when i tell her about the concert!!
i have to say i am completely gutted that wishes wont be on in August :( its my all time fav & i'd planned in my itenary to see it 3 times whilst we'd be their.....but not now :( my heart actually aches!!!

where is the melting pot????
if its in wdw i cant believe theres a restaurant i've missed!!!

good job on only having a small gain & already losing some :)
love the new pics :)

Those Shred push ups can be tough! It seems like they go on forever sometimes.

I know that you said your DH was interested in WATP, but wanted something with abs. My DH does the Power 90 workout on occasion when he can't get to the gym to workout. It's got 4 phases to it (Sculpt 1-2; 3-4 and Sweat 1-2; 3-4) and an amazing Ab Ripper 100/200 workout. I've done these workouts a few times myself and they are good workouts! We got ours on eBay a couple of years ago pretty cheap. (Note: These are not the Power 90X workouts that Tony Horton is advertising on TV right now. These workouts are the pre-cursor to that program and are tough, but not as intense as Power 90X.)

I hope you have a great evening!

So far we're both just doing Level One of the Shred but I may give Level Two a go next week. That Power 90 definitely sounds worth checking out.

Tracy, glad you enjoyed my articles. I do a lot of print work too and actually sold a book to a publisher last year. Not on travel tho'; on how to become a counselor. The Melting Pot is actually on Sand Lake Road, not too far from I-4. That area (Dr. Phillips) has some great restaurants.

DH is doing the Shred as I type this (we do it separately due to space constraints) and is using any excuse ("What are you doing, dear?") to skimp on the jumping jacks.

Barb, I love the new picture. Who was the guy you were with in your old sig? I thought that was your husband!

I think its great you and your dh do the same workouts, that way you can support each other and give each other tips and motivate each other to keep it up!

That is too funny that your DH asked what you were doing so he could distract himself from doing the Shred jumping jacks! There are a lot of jumping jacks in that workout!

The Power 90 workout is a good one. The sweat section is mostly calisthenics. It reminds me a little bit of Shred, but not as intense.

That is so awesome that you and your DH can go to the Disney parks when you need some relaxation! :cloud9: I am so looking forward to the day when my DH and I can go to Epcot and stroll around WS whenever we want. :cloud9:

I'm looking forward to reading your articles this weekend!:goodvibes

Hope you have a great Friday!

Let me know how you like Shred L2! The cardio just about kills me every time. At one point Jillian says she wants you to be gurgling your heart. And she couldn't have said anything more appropriate at that moment... :confused3

LOL, I love Jillian's comments in L1 so I can just imagine L2. I might actually give it a try today.

It's funny how many people thought that guy in my old siggie was DH. It was actually Ruben Studdard, the winner of the first American Idol. He is my fave Idol and I got to meet him at a WDW media event last year (they had all the Idols come when they opened the show). I got pics with quite a few but he was the one I was actively looking for.

I think DH is getting more serious about his working out because his blood pressure is up. He was on meds and was able to stop them but it's creeping upwards again (has nothing to do with having to live with me, hee hee). Hopefully stepping up his workouts will let him avoid a repeat of the pills. It's funny how medical stuff acts as a motivator. I think my big kick in the pants was when my brother had his ruptured anyerism (sp?) and stroke last year. He's ten years older than me so I figured it was time for some preventative measures. He's still hanging in there even tho' he still has some paralysis and vision impairment...he's so stubborn that he was actually outside trying to shovel snow this winter!

Okay Barb, clearly I don't watch American Idol!:rotfl:

All this time I thought you were married to that very big, burly guy and all of the sudden I am like "who is this new dude in Barb's sig?":lmao:

That is so cool that you get to attend various media events at WDW and get to meet celebs like Ruben Studdard!:thumbsup2

Hope you have a nice weekend!

LOL, it must be a family trait! DH and I have a friend who's a big, burly black guy (not nearly as big as Ruben tho') and one day he and DH were over at SeaWorld waiting in a line. They started chatting with a couple of guys who were partners (it was around Gay Days) but it never dawned on DH till Charles pointed it out later that the guys thought they were a couple too, hee hee.

lol - i watch AI & still thought he was your DH!!!
if you ever meet adam lambert - give him my phone number ;)
hope youve had a great weekend :)
