My dad is going with us to WDW. He wants to go fishing. Where is the best place to go fishing in WDW and Flordia?

Lori

the best place to fish in florida is the aquarium.

There is a place at FW that is supposed to be really good. I'm sure Born 2 Fish will post and give you the scoop...he knows all the details!!!

Pete, aquarium????? :sad2:

Don't listen to Gatordad. He needs to be mildly attacked. There is a guide at FW that will take you out in Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon. I think other resorts have the guide as well but FW seems to be the most popular. You can call the front desk and get the low down on it. I've seen some pretty nice bass caught.

:thumbsup2
I'm guessing that your father will be staying at the Fort. Two ways to fish the Bay lake.
1. They offer Guided Fishing Excursions. This is kinda costly $$,,but is LOTS of fun,,you can take up to 5 people per boat, it's a 2 hour trip, you will catch some real nice fish. Several years ago my wife caught a 9 pounder on a guided trip. Disney provides all the equip., bait, etc., you just show up.
If ONLY your father wants to take this guided excursion alone, at 1:30 pm (because its hottest part of the day) he can take this trip for a lot less $.
All the guides are very good. We like the guide named Uby ( Ooo-bee ) .

2. If he is wanting to fish Bay lake on his own, he should expect to (maybe) get his feet wet. He needs to bring some dark plastics, some divers like jitterbugs, and try rattle traps. Personally, I really like live baits, crawlers and shinners, but unless you are staying at the Fort keep'n the shinners alive can be a problem.
Best fishing,,I would go to the canal at loop 300, start at the lake and fish your way back toward the marina. There is lots of water grass, you'll have to deal with this. (wade)
DO NOT fish near the docks or on the docks!
Then, fish your way from the Fort toward the Wilderness Lodge.

Remember, Disney fishing is catch and release only.
You may want to keep a camera handy.

Happy fishing to your father !

My DH has fished at Disney. Once with an excursion and the next time just fishing the canals at FW. On the excursion, they caught small bass. The guide was friendly. He really doesn't catch much at FW but enjoys dragging his pole out there and relaxing. Now, last year year he drove about 15 minutes south of WDW and chartered 6 hour of bass fishing with a professional guide. It was more expensive but he LOVED it. He caught anywhere from 2-6 pound bass and lots of them. Plus saw alligators and bald eagles. His guide was lacking in personality but was an expert in putting him in the right place to fish. I think it was about $250 for 4-6 hours plus shiner. I highly recommend it. Some of the guides will pick you up at your hotel too. Pm me if you want the name of the guide my DH used.

They are all wrong! The best place to fish is where the fish are! Come on now, I thought eveyone knew that.:confused3 :thumbsup2

I was going to use that obvious response to such a vague question, but figured the aquarium wasn't as vague.... Good 2nd effort, and way to have my back:thumbsup2

The one in Epcot has Nemo if you like to catch celebrities! or Bruce, my personal favorite!

You bet!:thumbsup2

The best place is at the living seas w/Nemo

The next best is at the Ferry boat landing at TTC (you must hire the Disney fishing Guide to fish here) in the afternoon just take some popcorn and feed the fishes. Sometimes you see the Guide/Guest boats fishing there but they pull back while the Ferry is unloading/loading. Take some polarized glasses and look at the fish some got-ta be over 12lbs.

If you are into lobsters, go to publix, they have a big tank you can stick your hand in.
