Fishing in Hourglass Lake

Can you fish in the lake at Pop Century? DS would like to bring a pole and fish each morning while we are getting ready to go to the parks. Can anyone confirm if you can or cannot? We leave Sunday and would like to prepare him before we leave and not have him disappointed when we get there.

don't think so - now you can fish at FW - bay lake and pretty sure you can at seven seas lagoon (the one in front of the MK, GF, POLyn and CR)

the reaon is the turtles. when Pop first opened you could feed the fish - so feed the fish - guess what turtles came instead of fish. So asked Disney to make sure the fish food would not hurt the turtles and they had to take down all their feeding places.

so turtles (or at least these) must be on the protected list.

Thanks for the heads up! He'll be disappointed, but we are going to the Smokies following our Disney trip so he'll have plenty of opportunities to fish there.

Hi,

We're going to stay on Art of Animation this Easter week and saw your post. Did you ever confirm when you were down there if you can fish Hourglass Lake? I know they don't encourage fishing but I've done it at night on other properties. Never seen a No fishing sign where I've fishd. If you have a second, I just wanted to know if there are enough shoreline access for me to bass fish there? Thanks in advance.

Yes, resort guests are allowed to fish Hourglass Lake from the bank, but not off of the bridge. All fishing is "catch and release". Please be carefull where you walk as not all of the shoreline is level and accessable. Be aware of the possiblility of small gators too. Last May, my adult daughter saw one on the shoreline at Pop Century across the lake. It was "resting",half in the water, by the Rubik's cube 80's section just before dark.

FWIW,Hourglass Lake does have "No Fishing" signs.

Thanks for posting WEDWDW-I was all around the lake last May and didn't see any signs. It was a Pop cast member that told me fishing was allowed. Guess it's not anymore.

It could be that their "official" policy is "no fishing",but they don't enforce it.
