Fishing Excursion???

SO my SIL booked a fishing excursion for her family. They are staying at CSR. They were given the choice of which marina to go out of and the woman suggested DTD as that was closest to her resort. So that's what they went with.

I thought that was pretty far away from CSR as it's listed as an AK resort. Plus that would mean taking the boat from DTD out to Bay Lake or the Seven Seas Lagoon. How long would that be?

Should she change it to leave from Wilderness Lodge or will they be fine with where they are? WWYD?

Your SIL absolutely needs to change the ressies to go with fishing excursion from Wilderness Lodge or any of the MK resorts (they are located on Bay Lake/Seven Seas Lagoon)

The DTD lake is not connected to Baylake at all.
Trust me,,they will do much better fishing Baylake.

Are you kidding??? They told her she could go to DTD and take a boat from there to Bay Lake?

I just found info that they can actually fish at CSR, but they use fake bait? She said her DH didn't like the thoughts of that. Are fish that smart or maybe that lake isn't well stocked.

The MK lakes were the first lakes to be stocked, hence more time = more fish. You can use artificial bait or shiners at the MK lakes.

He wasn't kidding about the 2 lakes not being connected.

There is absolutely no way to get from DTD lake to Baylake by boat. Look up the map of WDW Property and you will see they are not conected.
Yes , you can fish the CSR lake also, however Baylake is a much larger lake with much more to offer for fishing, and they offer both live bait and lures on that lake.
Between a friend and us, we have fished everything Disney has to offer.
The best bet for MY MONEY is The BayLake Excursion hands down.

I don't mean to knock the CM's at Disney,,but to most of these people it's a job they have been trained to do,,,,,
every single time you talk to a CM ask them if they have ever done a fish excursion themselves, and if they have on which lakes . Most will admit they have never fished Disney, (but it's their job they've been trained for).

Have them change to Bay Lake. Besides the better fishing, there is something magical about watching the sun rise over the castle and seeing the parks come to life. You wont see that or feel that fishing and looking at a shopping center.

We have fished both locations I have gone out of DTD and from Dixie Landings and from the GF and WL and FW. We have always had great luck no matter what body of whater we have fished so I doubt they will have a problem at all with DTD. I have actually caught more BIG bass at DTD and the area than in Bay Lake.

The best fish'n trip we've done on Baylake was 4 hour excursion,,we stopped counting at 160 bass.Course I will say that trip was one of those freak once in a life time happenings.

I have caught a 8' bass off Baylake and my wife has caught a 9' bass off Baylake.

And I will admit, a friend caught a 8' from the shore at the CSR lake, wasn't too shabby for shore fish'n.

I am just gonna have to get over having to throw them back!
