I was going to book a fishing excursion for DH during our Nov trip to Disney. He is an avid fisherman and fishes at least twice a month, so his goal is to catch BIG fish. He has no intrest in wasting vacation time away from the rest of the family (or the money) doing a fishing excursion if he will only catch 2 pound fish. He can do that every time he fishes at home. Any advice on if it will be worth it to book, or where to book to get the BIG fish? :confused3
TIA

We did a fishing excursion in Nov of 2000. We left from the Boardwalk and went into world showcasea lagoon, which was pretty cool. All in all, between us and the guide we caught 1 fish. That was the guides. That was all he was able to catch even. He told us Nov wasn't a good time. Now, not sure if he just wasnt a good guide, but it was really cold as well. So, not sure if I'm much help, but we still enjoyed the excursion.

We take at least one fishing excursion on our trips - on our last trip in December 2005, we went twice - once from BWI and once from WL. We caught about 14 fish on each trip. The fish certainly weren't huge - probably about 2-3 pounds average with a couple in the 4-5 pound rage. I asked my DH (he's the fisherman in the family - i just go along for the ride) and he said that he didn't think this would be the excursion for someone who is looking for really large fish (though they are probably there) because of the price. Maybe your DH might be better off taking a day trip to one of the lakes in the area - Lake Toho is said to be good (see attached link for fall fishing forecast - it says "On a good day in fall, catches of 15-20 bass are common, with catches of 5 to 6 pound bass almost a daily occurrence".

1) Disney lakes were stocked in 1971.
2) With limited fishing, fish stocks are high.
3) With the exception of weather and afternoons, you should bag 5-10 fish.
4) But, the fish are usually under 4-lbs.
5) Yes, there are a few big ones, but not many.
6) Avid fishermen usually go off-site for the fix.

NOTE: Annually, WDW holds a bass tourney, and the pros don't catch big ones.
