Fishing Cruise wishes silver plan

Ok,

Here I go again, I want to book the fishing cruise with my silver plan wishes.
It takes two wishes per person = $68.

One cruise costs $210 approx. for an afternoon of 2 hours. One fee for up to five people.

Disney is telling me I have to use two wishes for each person. (10 wishes) It doesnt stop at whatever would cover the cost of the boat.
This would equal $340!

This is ridiculous.

Does anyone know of anyway for me to get them to be fair about it?

I have a family of five. I dont want to pay cash...I want to use my wishes, this is what I got the plan for.

Sorry, I can't help you.

But it's not like Disney makes you pay the difference when the value of your "wish" exeeds what you pay for it, either.

You may just have to take the hit on this one, and use your wishes the rest of the time you're there in such a way that you earn back the difference, cost wise.

I agree with you about Disney not hitting you with the difference when its over, but if we ever make out on it...its around $10 - $20, not around $100.

We are doing the same thing as you--but with only three people. One adult and 2 small children are using 6 wishes to take the cruise.

Well, for three people that actually works out around the actual cost for you.
give or take $10.

I actually do like the wishes package. I've agonized over the numbers and the cost come close to equally out with the things I 'wish' to do. We come out just a little ahead, (if only me and my husbands go fishing). If we just went with the 'pay as you go'...we probably wouldnt do the things we're planning to do just because they're so expensive. And for a family of five...geez.
Our kids are now 21, 19 and 17, and we're just now able to afford to take them to Disney. Its nice though that they can go off on their own. But a little old for the fantasy characters enchantment thats so easy to please little ones with. (kind of along the order of Santa and EAster Bunny). And my husband and I are starting to feel our age, so the rides just dont excite me too much. The last time we went with the kids to Great America in Chicago...We got beat up on the roller coasters and nauseas on some of the rides. So I'm leary of some of the rides myself. So we're thinking of 'kicking back' while the kids run and enjoy. My daughters will be doing the Dolphin thing, which is expensive, but the rest of us are ok without it, so $150 each...they're thrilled. My husband is going to do something special with Josh -the 17 year old, they're talking Water Crafts...but I'm thinking the Speedway ride would be more equal and special to the dolphin thing the girls are doing. I guess I'll just leave the kids out of the fishing excursion as I originally planned.

Difference of $61 dollars.

These numbers reflect a quick reference to numbers on allears, except where I knew better, they may be higher in the cash area.

I have agonized as well. We are a small Grand Gathering (9 people) including my mother (in her 60's), me and my husband (40's), our two children (ages 11 & 8), My brother and his wife (late 30's) and their two children (4 & 1). We are all on the Silver plan, paid for by my mother but completely booked and planned by me. Her rule was that we do our very best to eat lunches and dinners together as a family in a sit-down restaurant. Most of our wishes are going for food (We have 112 wishes to work with!) and I have really tried to get the most value out of the wishes. My mom also wanted everyone to feel free to do things (and order desert, etc.) without worrying about the cost.

We also share your more laid back attitude this time (to a certain extent). We have gone to Disney about every other year since the kids were born and at this point, it won't kill me if I don't see Muppetvision 4-D for the 12th time. We are doing a lot of things we NEVER would have done if we had to pay outright (like the fishing). Unfortunately, we couldn't do Cirque du Soleil because they aren't performing the week we are there.

Here is how our wishes are being used (we are usually paying cash for the smaller children rather than wasting a wish for them at buffets, etc.):

Thats interesting. I dont hear too much about the silver planning people.
I'm guessing you might be able to take advantage of the childrens prices for wishes? Which is nice because they still count as a wish. I avoided the tours because I cant be on my feet very long. We lucked out with the Cirque thing, becuz we were originally planning to go a week earlier, but my husband got bumped by seniority for that week. You do have a big crowd dont you!
I keep thinking about the spa thing too. But they're limiting the services offered to wishes. I'll play that one by ear. Theres nothing like a spa treatment to spoil yourself. We deserve it, dont we. The one thing we can do for ourself and not for the kids etc.

by the way...I just noticed that your from Galena, IL....

I just spent a womens getaway up there in November at the Irish Cottage, shopped and Spa treatment! It was nice.

I noticed all the restaurants you've booked....Which are your favorites?

I do wish they hadn't changed the packages--it is harder to get good information and conversation about the Silver plan now that everyone is doing something else! I also worry a bit that we might run into some snags as the CM's see less and less of these older packages.

Choosing the restaurants for this trip (and all the other activities) was done through a democratic process. I made up fun surveys and each adult filled one out--majority ruled. I tend to go for theme-y restaurants such as Sci-Fi Dine In or 50's Prime Time and character meals. For me, it is all about keeping the kids entertained and peaceful. That is less of an issue for my older children but my neice and nephew are still tiny. If it were only up to me, I probably would have added Biergarten to our list.

Tried and true favorites for us include Liberty Tree Tavern, Garden Grille (closed during our visit!), and California Grill. Looking at my list for this trip, the only restaurant I haven't been to before is Chef Mickey's. Oh, and Mickey's Backyard BBQ--that is new, but I'm not going this time. The fathers are taking the 4 kids to that while the women go to the restaurant in Mexico. I love the atmosphere there. It is easy to imagine that you are really outside in a Mexican town (especially after a margarita!). I am also excited about Ohana. I went once about 13 years ago and don't have a good memory of it. It sounds like a fun place for a large group.

Yes, I am from Galena. It is a great town to visit with lots of fun shopping. The Ladies' Getaway Weekend is very popular!
