Just wonder how much time we should allow ourselves to get from Fishermans Wharf Radisson to SFO. Our flight leaves at 7pm on a Monday. We are hoping to get some touring time that day and want to make sure we leave enough time to get to airport. Thanks for advice.

How do you plan on getting to the airport? Do you have a rental car or are you going to hire an airport shuttle/car service or taxi? I didn't find that the hotel has an airport shuttle. That is the reverse commute on the freeway, but the issue might be commuters clogging up the surface streets on the way home. The other issue is that Fisherman's Wharf is quite far away from the freeway. The most direct way would be to go down Van Ness to the freeway portion of US-101.

If I were driving myself in a rental car I'd leave at 4:30. If unfamiliar with the area I'd make it 4.

OK then. Cab helps a lot because you'd have to budget maybe a half hour to handle a rental car and take SFO AirTrain to your terminal. A cab can drop you off right there.

Depending on traffic you might be looking at about 40-45 minutes and maybe $55-60. Cabs to the airport aren't flat rate. The last time I took a cab to SFO was for $43, but that was in the early morning from Market Street when we figured out that BART wasn't going to get us there in time. You'll probably be dealing with more wait time at traffic lights and maybe 3 more miles than we dealt with. You'll be leaving around rush hour. If you need to get there 90 minutes before departure time, I'd say leave at about 4:40.

I too was going to say around 4:30...

I would go down the embarcadero to get on 280 S (then to 101) - if there is not a giants game. Got caught in that mess over the weekend.

Cab will know how to go though.

Have fun!

There might be prescribed routes. I remember in Las Vegas a cab driver told me that they were supposed to go straight down Las Vegas Blvd regardless of the traffic conditions unless they specifically ask the passenger if it's OK. They could actually collect more in mileage from taking the freeway and maybe even save some time, but they weren't supposed to do it because it usually results in a higher fare. The mileage (goes several miles out of the way) more than made up for collecting less wait time.

I'd take BART from the Embarcadero station directly to SFO, and not mess with the traffic. Because it's during commute hours, you'll be riding with more business types and less losers.
