My DD's school has a project where they raise convict cichlids in one of the classes and then they are prizes at their carnival. I think this is crazy, but I don't think my opinion counts. So 2 years ago we get one of these things so we have had it a while.

My question is - would it be weird to have a pet fish in a fishbowl in your kitchen? Would you think that someone having a fishbowl in their kitchen (with a fish in it) was weird?

Oh - and it really is a pretty fish.

Cichlids don't do well in just a bowl. It would be dead fish floating pretty quick. Wait - I just noticed you have one. And it's fine a bowl? Wow, that's cool.

Oh and yes it would seem strange to me to have a fish in a kitchen. They don't like changes in tempature. Then again, since yours has lived maybe that's where I should put mine. I'm getting pretty close to the end of putting up with replacing fish a couple of times a year.

Nope not weird at all.

But our fish prefer the living room. They react to bright lights from the TV and movement in the room. Plus, when we are relaxing, we can just watch them from our couch. Our orange swordtail dances.

Our Betta lives in the kitchen. He seems to like it there just fine
