fish extenders??

Forgive me but I am in the early stages of planning our. 1st cruise. What the heck are these fish extenders? They look so cute I just don't know what they are for.

They are a fun activity for dis members to share the magic. Every cabin has a fish hook outside their door for mail from DCL...you can make or order a fish extender to the hook and every night find all kinds of gifts and surprises from other cruise members. An easy way to find out who is doing the fish extenders on your cruise is to got to the meet links and find your sail and join it/ follow it. Type in fish extenders in the search box and it will pull up other links with more information. They are fun for both adults and kids.

We have our first Disney cruise coming up on the Dream in March and have signed up on the meet page to be a part of the FE. Now the hard part we have no craftiness really at all any suggestions on where to get one of these made or where to buy one? We will attempt to make one but want to have a backup plan. We wouldn't want to be the laughing stock of the Fish Exteneders. Lol

go to Michaels, they always have neat little thing you can put together!
and don't worry about not being crafty, i'm soo not crafty (seriously, girl scout leaders take crafty items away from me and find me something else to supervise!!) but you can do little things like get the small baggies, like what buttons come in, put glitter in them, add tiny shovels and pails and you have a great FE!! Stickers are always cute, little pens, pads, or anything pirate! Oriental trading co has lots of neat stuff too!

If you don't want to do it yourself, you can do a Disney Fish Extender search on Ebay or Etsy and order them there.

I have GOT to get busy on trying to make mine so that in the event I don't figure it out I can get one ordered!

I got mine from a great seller on eBay, just search "fish extender" and several will come up. The woman who made ours will personalize if for you, they're great! You can also find generic ones.

There is also a seller on etsy.com called StichesNBows who makes great fish extenders as well. I had a hard time choosing which one to get!

There is also a great thread here on the Dis called "Homemade FE Gifts" for great ideas about what to give out. I'm already working on the gifts for our May cruise!! I'm doing picture frames, pens, post-it holders and home amde bracelets. I still have to figure out the kids...

Just remember, you don't need to use a formally made fish extender. We were on a cruise last month and a lot of us used Christmas stockings.
One person used two sand pails on a string that went over the fish
Be creative... There is no one way to make a F.E.

I doubt you can still sign up for one. Most groups have a cut off date since many people make personalized gifts. Also people need time to shop and prepare the gifts.

Your FE group may break down into smaller groups, say 15 cabins in each group, so you're not buying for 50 cabins. Then, you can choose whether to give a single gift per cabin, or gifts for each person in the cabin. On our last cruise, we did a single gift for the adults (magnetic message board) and separate gifts for the kids in each cabin (bracelets, water bottles, activity books, etc).
