Fish & Chips Counter Service?

Not only as everyone has different tastes . .but also every dining place is going to have good & bad days on what they cook/serve, so the opinions are going to vary a lot.

We went to Epcot in November 2008. When we were walking through UK the smell of the fish & chips was wonderful. It has all our tummys growling. I stopped and bought one order (2 pieces of fish & a serving of chips - a/k/a fries). The 4 of us sat on a curb to watch King Arthur & the Holy Grail and shared the meal.

We all enjoyed it very much. The only negative I would have is the very center of the fish was mushy - and for me that is a turn off. But that is my hang up, my DH & DDs didn't have a problem with it at all. The fish was very flavorful, the other parts were flaky inside & crispy outside. The fries/chips were very good.

We would do it again without hesitation.

Tried them once and never again, the fish was disgusting and the chips were not too great either. Nothing like a Harry Ramsdens in the UK in which we eat fairly frequently.

e just had it the first time on our trip a week ago, and it was delicious! Really yum.

As for the whole "it's not close to real British fish n' chips", that's like having a burger and saying "it's not close to real American burgers". There are SO many different ways to prepare a given food item, even in the countries of origin. So some may think it is authentic and fabulous, and others may think it is a poor substitute on all levels. You just gotta try it for yourself.

Me? I went in with no particular expectations in mind and really loved it. YUM!

We liked the fish 'n chips from Cooke's at DtD. We did not like the ones from Yorkshire at Epcot. Maybe we just got a bad batch, I don't know, I should try them again to compare but I haven't been able to bring myself to go back because the first time was a waste of time (long line) and money.

Our fish was soggy and so greasy you could squeeze it and watch the oil drip out. It was also rather tasteless. The chips were undercooked and also rather tasteless. We had five orders, DH and I plus our three kids, and none of us finished them even though the portion isn't all that large. We ended up throwing away half or more. :sad2:

So many people seem to love it though. Maybe this trip I'll stop in and try it again.
