After our magical but short nite at MK, we returned to POR via a very crowded bus (why do people not put their small children on their laps so other people with small children can sit too?? rant over)
We return to our rooms and the maid who was supposed to come back at 5 PM, never did. We had extra towels and we got more at old man island, so we didn't complain too much. We didn't let it ruin our nite, we were leaving anyways!
As it is only 10 Pm, we return to the quiet pool instead of the very crowded Old Man Island. We all have a relaxing swim. Kids go to bed tired but happy while Sue and I stay up pack until 1 AM.

We sleep in till 8 and look over our room bill. Do you believe it?? They gave us the AP rate for our last nite stay instead of full rack rate. Felt like I received a gift! They did not remove our Boatwright complimentary breakfast, however, after a quick stop at the desk they took it right off the bill.

We packed up the car on this hot and humid AM. Drove over to south parking lot and had nice breakfast at food court and filled up mugs for long drive home. Noticed that DS Buzz lightyear sunglasses had buzz coming off and he was disappointed. Went to gift shop to get him a new pair and the CM replaced them free of charge saying "You can't expect him to wear sunglasses without Buzz on them, can you??" (And people wonder why I continue to return to Disney?
Returned the life jacket to the marina so I did not get charged the 45 bucks.
Took lots of pictures, Wished we had time to ride bikes/ surreys/ and to fish. Oh well, next time.

10:30 AM Back to the overstuffed car, picked our Disney movie to start our drive home. Good bye POR, thanks for the memories!

Made it to Beckley, WVA the first nite by 11:30 PM. We wrote our Disney memories in the car so i could write our trip report. Good way to pass time as everyone remembers things. (Glad we made it past Charlotte and the tornados there). Fairfield Inn, nice but not in Disney anymore.

Left next Am at 8 and got back to Pittsburgh and Cranberry Township at 12:30 PM. (front page of paper talks about the shootings at convenience stores in WVA: Do you know how many convenience stores we stopped at on 77???)

See that Orlandco is now experiencing tornados at Epcot.

Say a quick prayer of Thanks that we made it home safely and missed all the bad stuff.
Can't pull myself away from the DIS to do the laundry. Time for back to school next Wed the 27th.

My daughter can't wait to give her teacher her pin.

And what a story my kids will have to tell on their first day of school!! What did I do on my summer vacation? "Well, it all started with my crazy mom and her best friend . . .

I loved your trip reports!! I would love to take a trip like that! Last night I was on the Dis boards for an hour and one of our friends said "there are other places to go besides disney!" Ugh, I hate that comment. I would much rather just say ok let's just go next week. I hope they bring back AP rates so that we could be able to afford to do that. I don't know if my dh would want to be excluded from a trip. He will say it is just ok, but really he loves it!! Thanks for the great reports!!

Isn't it amazing how fast time flies when you are there and there are always things you didn't get to do. I guess that is what keeps us coming back time after time. I'm glad you had so much fun and appreciate your great reports. Start saving for the next one -- add an extra day for the resort fun stuff next time.

What a great trip report!!! After 6 stays at the CBR, the only AP discount we could get for our DEc 8-17 trip was PO Riverside. I had hesitations to book, but after reading your report, I can't wait!! I requested Magnolia Terrace. I just hope that we don't find anyone sleeping in our bed!! We have 4 yr old twins going with us, and every time they see a plane in the sky, they ask if it's time to go see Mickey yet... I told them that when it snows it will be time to go.... I just pray that we don't have snow here in Mass soon!!!!

My DD and I are going to CBR right after Thanksgiving. She wanted to give it a try. It must be great if you have stayed there 6 times.

WOW! Excellent trip report!! Very detailed and witty...I laughed...I cried!! That will be one trip to remember for years to come! And I wasn't even there!! LOL

A couple of questions: Do they have surrey bikes for rent at POR? And what is the exact order of stops that the bus picks up? Was yours first? South Depot last?

I am glad you enjoyed it. It is fun to share with other people. I get so much help from these boards that I love being able to share my experiences and help others.

They have surrey bikes that seat 2 or 4-6? they looked really fun and they are definitely on our list of things to do next time.

As for bus stops, some people say it always changes, but I noticed while we were there:
In AM going to parks: west-north-east- south. Everytime we got a bus in the AM it stopped at South bus stop last. It was always the most crowded bus stop with people getting on and having to stand. (after getting mugs filled, having breakfast etc)

When returning from the parks, the South bus stop was always the first dropped off. We usually stayed on until the north depot because it was steps away.

Overall, I thought the bus service was very efficient and did not notice any problems. You had the usual crowding and waiting at park closing time, but I think you have that no matter where you stay.
