First Winter Trip

We have our first ever winter trip to Disney planned for January 3-15. I don't know if I should pack shorts or long jeans, short sleeve tops or long sleeve, etc. What is the typical weather like at that time? What about rain? Do they get a rain like they do almost daily in the summer?

I don't think I've ever been that early in January, but I've been there during the later part of the month. The weather can be pretty weird, imo. I'm typically cold no matter what, so I always opt for jeans in the winter months. But I've ranged from a tank top/jeans on some days to 3 layers and jeans on other days. It really depends. I think the range of temps is anywhere from 50s in the evenings/mornings to low/mid 70s on the really nice days. Never much hotter/colder than that. The rain doesn't seem to pour down in weird spurts like it does in the summer time. You might have some rainy/dreary days, but they're a little different.

You can check out the historical weather from last year if you're interested: http://www.weather.com/weather/monthly/l/USFL0615:1:US

Hope this helps! :) I love winter trips to Disney, and I hope you have a good time!

We've been in late December, never January, but I'm assuming its about the same. For us, its the best time to go, the weather is perfect! We would leave the hotel in the mornings in shorts, t-shirts, and light jackets. the jackets usually came off by lunch and we were comfortable the entire day. Once the sun started setting we would break out the jackets again. If we were out late enough (we were at the Christmas Party until after midnight) we brought gloves and hats and heavier jackets. Florida is humid, so when it gets cold, its a wet cold- the worst!

I would definitely keep checking the weather as your trip approaches, but I would pack everything just to be safe. Another year we went in March and an unexpected cold snap hit while we were there. Disney ran out of gloves and was selling just generic black ones they probably picked up from wal-mart for $1 for $10 a pair. I was actually desperate enough to buy them- don't make my mistake!

Yes - those little stretchy gloves that you buy for $1 at the Dollar Tree are great to have stashed in your park bag. Waiting for the parades or fireworks can be chilly! We have been twice in your time frame (and are going back in Jan in 2017), once it was high 70's/low 80s all week, the other time it was freezing (we too ended up buying additional Disney sweatshirts at a high cost!). Good advice above to check the weather as your trip approaches. Great time to go - no awful heat, not too crowded (but still enough people to fill the parks), the parks are pretty at night!

Pack it all. You never know at that time of year. I've experienced 70-80s during the days and 30's at night although not on the same trip.

Yep pack a little bit of everything. They don't get the daily rain which is great. (Can still get regular rain)

Iagree with all of the above. Bring a little of everything and layer up.

Prepare for the 30's or 80's and everything in between. Marathon weekend is early January and there has been freezing rain and heat advisories depending on the year. When you get to the day before your trip you can look at the forecast and prepare accordingly but until then no one really can tell you.
