First weekend in December

Hello -

I couldn't get the search function to work - have a couple questions about taping of the Christmas parade that hopefully someone can help me with...

We're looking at planning a short trip from Thurs-Sun the week after Thanksgiving. Our only full days are Friday & Saturday, so it looks like the best MK day would be Friday.

For anyone who has gone to MK that day - would there still be EMH on Friday even if the Christmas Parade taping is going on? If you've been there during the taping, was it just crowded around the actual taping but rides had little waits? How about crowds/ride waits after the taping?

Any suggestions for the best thing to do on that Saturday? We most likely will be staying onsite.

I've been there many times the first weekend of December. I've found that they do a lot of it before the park opens-they have the front of the castle sectioned off for only those people selected to be in the taping and they re-route you around the hub. Most of it occurs right in front of the castle and it's not an all day thing-it never bothered us. I think if the EMH is in the evening, it shouldn't be disrupted (but the MVMCP will make EMH's change too) If there's an EMH in the morning, they'll just send you off to the sections of the park that are open.... HAVE FUN!!! I love that time of year in Disney!

We were there 2 years ago the same time and are going again this year. I believe they tape the parade on Sat. morning, not Friday. we avoided MK on Sat. last time and spent the day at Epcot. I just didn't feel like fighting the crowds. This year my DD birthday is Friday Dec.1, so we will be at MK that day. Hopefully they have EMH in the evening. It would be nice if they did because Sat is the MVMCP and MK closes early.

We found that other than the hub, the other MK lands weren't really too packed. We do tend to show up in time for rope drops & generally avoid MK on Saturdays. also, be aware that taping for the parade can continue to Sunday--
If you plan to use Photopass the front facade of the Castle in the background view will not be available. They can get a side view in, though. When we went down this past December, the Sat they were taping, it was very difficult to spot a Photopass person on Main Street & the CMs--we tried 4--although sweet,weren't too much help--that is until we landed a super young woman who called for info
We headed out to AK for the day. With EE a new draw, you might want to do MGM. A tour of the various resorts in their Holiday finest is fantastic. Try the GF, WL, YC
You're going to enjoy a super time! We really like MVMCP--don't miss the shows & grab your view for the fireworks very early
