I have been to Disney many many times but never the first week of September give me the good the bad and the ugly... TIA

It's one of the least crowded weeks of the year, typically.

That said, Labor Day is late this year, and some schools don't start until after Labor Day. So the slow week this year could end up being the second week of September.

Oh, and it's hot. :)

On Touring plans they are still suggesting that it is slow time of the year, but that is a good point about labor day.

We've gone Labor Day week quite a few times and really like it. First of all, it's not crowded at all! At times the parks seem empty. We went that week in 2008, 2009 & 2010. Even on Labor Day the parks aren't crowded. I was in MK one Labor Day and it was not crowded at all. Yes, it can be very hot and humid then, but with lower crowds you don't need to rush and lines aren't that long or crowded so the heat isn't as oppressive as it can be with lots of people and long lines. One bad thing when we went was the MNSSHP began the week or 2 after, but now that's different so you could very well also enjoy MNSSHP while there. Free Dining was also usually offered during this time so though the parks weren't crowded, you needed to make sure you got your ADRS early. This is one of the lowest priced seasons...we usually rent DVC points and saved additional money as less points are needed during this time.

Rain-wise, we didn't have any the times we went. Maybe one quick shower or so and that was it. Technically it's hurricane season then so you never know. But when do you ever get a good-weather guarantee?

If you absolutely hate very hot and humid weather, this is not the time for you. But if you can handle the heat (stay hydrated, take it easy, etc.) I think it's a great time to go.

I very carefully chose our trip dates based on historic crowd levels. I wanted the least amount possible. That being said, we will be there September 4 - 16. We've gone in June, August, and January. June and August were very busy. Most of our January days were busy as well; plus, I'm not a fan of cold weather. I have high hopes for September.

I have been in Jan, Feb, Aug, Late Sept, Oct but the heat wont be so bad as long as the crowds are low and thats my hope for the 2-8th of Sept :)

We went 3 years ago the first week of September and it also happened to be Labor Day. We really enjoyed that time. It was still Hot but that's to be expected. Very low crowds and wait times were fairly short. It rained a bunch that week on us but most of the time it was just short pop up showers. We are going Sep 21-28 this year and can't wait. Enjoy!!

Sept. is the month we almost always go, we've been just about every week in that month at one time or another. We started because it was just before school started so it was a late August/early Sept. window for a last trip. Then it just became habit, it was easier to get a room, they usually came out with free dining and it wasn't really crowded. It is a tad warm, we are from Georgia so warm is subjective for us. It rains, but I've yet to find a time when it hasn't rained at least once during a trip for us. I've been Oct., April, Sept., Aug., and am going this May, there is no bad time to go.
