We are planning on going 5/2 and 5/3. Does anybody have any experience with the first week of May?

I don't, but I believe it is a nice, off-season week. Should have shorter park hours and lower crowds. I'd go then if I didn't need to wait for school to be out. ;)

We went last year, the first week, it was over Mother's Day.

It was a good, low crowd time, we didn't have too many lines, except on Mother's Day, it was pretty busy that Sunday.

The hours are shorter, and there were lots of things in refurb, or closed, that may have been because we were also there for the premier of the POTC movie.

The weather was beautiful, we are from snow country, so we were mostly in shorts and shirt sleeves all day, even in the evening.

We didn't get fireworks, because they only happen on the weekend, and wind caused them to be cancelled.

I would go again that week, as long as there was no extra stuff, like the movie premier, that closed a lot of one area.

It's an awesome time to go! The one downside -besides the normal shorten hours and refurbishments that go with the slow season, that we have experienced is once May hits there seems to be more field trips. 20 kids to one chaperone can be a bit annoying when they are behind you and have no respect for your space. It is still one of my favorite times to go, so it apparently is not that much of a deterent.
