First week of May - yes or NO?

We are planning our trip for 2006 and have narrowed it down to 10 days - May 2 - 11th. Can you tell me the type of crowds to expect?

Would you travel early May or wait until the first week of December?

Or do you think February is a better idea?

I would really love your thoughts on the time frame in the first week of May!!

Although I've never been to WDW that month, my dad has lived in Sarasota all his life. He says anytime after the Spring Breaks are over but before school is out is very good. You should hit that time frame with any of those dates.

We'll be there May 6 to May 13 when my husband is home on leave from Operation Iraqi Freedom. We're bringing ourselves, our four kids, a kid's friend, and four in-laws. Wooooooooo hoooooooooo!

We love it that time of year. Pretty hot, but not like June/July/August. Pools aren't very crowded, so we enjoy the sun and water. Walk on everything we were interested in. If you will be there for Mother's Day, get your ressie in asap.

We've gone that same time for the last 2 years & are going again in 2006. It is a great time to go. I just hope the word doesn't spread too much about this or we see a huge increase next year.

I agree! Early May is a great plan. Before we moved to FL we came every May for the F & G, and the Flower Power concerts. Sometimes in mid May it can get hot but that's why they invented a/c! When you feel uncomfortable, jump from your car to the nearest store!

To answer your questions...

Crowds are NOT too bad early to mid May.

I would travel early May, and again the first week in December as we did for many years. Light crowds, great weather.

Scratch Feb. It can be disappointingly chilly down here for vacationers!

THis will be our 13th May trip in a row. The weather early May is great, usually hovering in the mid 80s. The crowd level tends to be moderate. Not heavy like Christmas and Easter, but not light like January and September. Lots of local like to visit this time of year along with school groups. We already have our ressies at the BWV for April 23-May 6. Hopefully Mt. Everest will be open too!

We had our first May trip this past one and will try to make it down for the first week of May from now on. It was GREAT! Short lines, weather was great, Flower and Garden Festival. We will be at the BWV April 30-May 5th. Cant wait!

Went last year during that time - It was great. Crowds weren't bad. Weather was nice.

Thanks for all the great info! I am quite certain we are going to book for May - it might not be as slow as it has been on our past visits in September, but it sounds like we will have much better weather!!

Whew, I'm so glad to hear this. I just reserved OKW for 4/30-5/5. We've never gone to WDW in early May, always late May, often over Memorial Day. I hoped the crowds wouldn't be worse than that! Now we can wait for the announcements of the bands for the Flower Power shows-I love those!
