I posted this in another thread but didnt get any responses so I thought I would repost here in hopes to get a few!

My son and I will be making our first trip to DL to celebrate his 10th birthday. We will be there Jun 4,5 and 6th. I read today that Star Tours will open on June 3rd. How busy will it make the park on the 5th and 6th? I originally scheduled to trip during this time because I thought it would be slower. My son has anxiety and I am afraid the park will be insanely packed on these days. How crowded do you think it will get?! Should we try to change to dates to the middle of the week?
TIA!

well, opening day is usually really really long lines due to SoCal AP holders...

Nemo = 6 hour wait time opening day...
Mania = 3-4 hours wait time opening day...

It will be very crowded because Star Wars Weekends are going on. The 6th might be OK as it is a weekday, and the event won't be going on that day. The middle of the week would be better though. Is your sons anxiety diagnosed? The reason I ask is if doctor will write a note- take the note to Guest services, and they will give you a Guest Assisitance card that will allow you to use the fastpass lines. My son is autistic, and this pass is the reason we choose Disney every year for our vacation.

Star Wars weekends are at WDW. DL does not have them.

:teacher:

What is Star Wars weekend?
Yes, he is diagnosed. I will get a letter from his doc!
My youngest son has a sensory disorder so I opted to leave him home with Dad as I felt he would be overwhelmed and couldnt bear the waiting. The fast pass info is great to know!

Thanks! :)

It will be pretty crowded on the new rides. The rest of the parks probably not so much.

The GAC is a great idea and might help, but please don't get the idea that it is an instant Fastpass - especially at Disneyland, where there aren't very many Fastpass rides to begin with. Check out the Disabilities thread for more information. It could definitely help you, but it probably won't mean you don't have to worry about crowds.

I plan on steering clear of the areas where Star Tours and Ariel are. I figure we can use the fast pass system as everyone else. (in the rest of the park)
The help from guest services will be especially helpful next year when I bring my youngest who has SPD.

And if you want to ride ST, I would recommend running in and getting a FP very first thing!

Is there a disabilities board for Disneyland? I saw one for Disneyworld but couldnt find one here...

There is just the one, on the WDW side. But the GAC info in the sticky can be basically applied to both WDW and DL, and there is a section in the sticky that specifically discusses DL.

I think you'll find it somewhat vague, but that is probably in great part because everyone's experiences with the GAC seem to differ tremendously. Even so, it helps to know the basics of what it is about and how to get one if you think you might need it.

Little bit nervous about the crowd levels, we'll be there 5/31-6/4, so we'll be there right in the thick of it! Hoping for some soft openings in the first couple of days...this will be our last trip there for a while, so we're going to have to really plan, since we haven't even seen WOC yet. I never went on the old Star Tours ride, so probably won't go on the new one (not a fan of fast rides, jerky rides, etc) but the one I really want to go on is LM! It sounds like it's a continous loading ride like the HM, so I'm hoping it won't be such a long wait...
