Has anyone been to WDW the first week of December? I was just wondering how crowds are and what the weather is like during that time. Any info would be appreciated. :thumbsup2

Spectacular time to visit.

Christmas is "up and running" at WDW.
Candlelight at Epcot, MVMCP, Osborne Lights... its wonderful.

Thanksgiving crowds are gone, Christmas crowds are weeks away.

Weather can be ANYTHING.

The extremes would be from 80's in the daytime, down to upper 30's and windy at night.

We pack shorts, tee's, jeans, sweaters, windbreakers, gloves, thermal underwear, rain ponchos...
Everything can be be worn in removable layers (a backpack is a must, a locker is great) so regardless of weather, we can be comfortable in the parks.
Because it is GREAT to be at WDW in early Dec.

I've never been to WDW when I wasn't sweating to death. I thought it would be a nice change to go when it's somewhat cool. Thanks for your info!

We've been there twice then, and it's our favorite time. Beautiful decorations, weather and crowds. Have fun!!

We love visiting that time of year. We typically check in the Friday after Thanksgiving, enjoy a few crowded days then the crowds slim down following that Sunday after Thanksgiving. We always pack for any type of weather, we've been when it was hot and sunny or it has been cold and raining. We always enjoy seeing all of the Christmas decorations also. Our all time favorite time to visit even though we slip in any other trips throughout the year that we can.

It's my most favorite time of the year! The crowds are low, christmas decor is out, it snows on main street if you go the Mickey's party! The weather is nice, alot cooler so you'll need bring a jacket for the evenings. NO LINES! ( :

My most favorite time of year also. I have been going the beginning od Dec for years!!

Pop Warner Football and cheerleading championships are going on but it isnt that bad. Beats the summer crowds!!!

It is mid rage temps so you will needa little of everything from shorts to jackets and sweatshirts. But it sets the entire Christmas mood for me and my girls!

I leave in 2 days for the world and I am scared all of a sudden I am so spoiled with the December crowd not sure if I am ready to tackle the spring break crowd.

Have a great trip need to know anything just ask.
Miss

:confused3

What a coincidence! I'm leaving in two days for WDW also! I'm also
very nervous too! I'm the off season person. I go either in May or December.
Why am I going during Spring Break???? I may be crazy!!! But I was faced with going now or no other foreseeable opportunity this year. So guess what? I'm going!

Smilie, I felt exactly the same way. I had never been to WDW when it was anything less than 90 degrees! So, we went this past December (1st week) and it was gorgeous! Weather was perfect - upper 60s/low 70s during the day. Got chilly at night, but it was welcome compared to July temps! It was the weirdest thing seeing the CMs wearing jackets - we had never seen that before! The Christmas decorations were wonderful - I can't think of a better time to go! I would definitely go back again in December. Have a great trip!

I'm glad you started this thread because we are going the week after Thanksgiving next yr. Our 10 day vacation, we go in January, but we are going for 6 nights in Dec. and 1st week of Oct. 07. We only go during off season, I'm spoiled.
Have Fun!

I'm excited about this thread too. I want to hear more about the week following Thanksgiving. We are arriving on the Saturday after Thanksgiving (not going to the parks until Sunday) and returning the following Saturday December 2nd (so we should miss most of the parade taping). I've heard great things about this time of year and was wondering if the MVMCP is good to go to during this week. It's a long way away, but I can't wait to see the Christmas decorations. We've always went down in May in the past.

We typically go to MVMCP during the week, we usually try to hit one of the days that they are offering an AP discount on the tickets.

it is hands-down the best time of year to visit. The weather is perfect(although you will have to pack some layers which you wouldn't have to do in the summer), you are outside the hurricane season, the decor is fabulous and the crowds are probably the smallest all year. GO GO GO GO GO GO.

We had the dream-vacation-of-a-lifetime during that time of year. The only caveat is that it is too cold for us adults to swim (the kids will no matter what). Of course if you are from the north, you might actually think it is OK to swim!

We haven't found it to be unbearable, we have done that time of the MVMCP twice now and always have a great time. We get to do anything we want and DS even gets to ride the go-carts (the only time the line isn't so long).

We are going December 1-10. I can't wait for the Christmas decorations, MVMCP, low crowds, hopefully a little cooler weather than October or April when we've been. Went in January before and liked the cooler weather but we weren't really prepared for it. The first day was 80 then like 50-60 for the rest of the time.

We went a few years ago from Dec 3-10th. We walked onto almost everything. The crowds were minimal. The ONLY drawback was, it was cold (sweatshirts and jeans required). I have been told the weather there is unpredictable, so there's no guarantee you'll have the same temperature we did. I highly HIGHLY recommend going at this time of year-you can't beat the crowds (or lack of crowd) and I'd rather put up with the cold weather than a 2 hour wait for a ride.

I thought 05 the crowds were a bit more than 04, but we still didn't wait long for anything (fast pass is great) and the weather both times was cool in Am, warmer in afternoon, cool (to the point where you needed long pants and jackets most evenings). The water parks were out, but we did enjoy the heated pools in the afternoons and some evenings. We have little one so we take our stroller and are able to pop sweatshirts underneath as the day progresses.

We went last year and it was a good time. It's not as empty as the board may make it sound 2 be but it's not extremely busy either. Right in the middle I would say.

Anyone know if the gingerbread house at the GF is assembled by Dec 1? We'd really like to see it.
