First WDW trip as a pregnant mommy!?!?

Get an Rx for Zofran if you don't have one already. Miracle drug, even if you are just queasy! My doc says 8w is about when the nausea ramps up, so be prepared. Also, you can expect food aversions if they haven't started already so make sure you pack some snacks you know you can handle. I make sure I eat about every 2 hours and I never get nauseated.

I will be going at 22w in April so I'll be further along than you, but I plan on still having lots of fun. WDW is a great place to vacation pregnant. There is still so much to do - Congrats!

YES! Zofran is an amazing pill! Unfortunately, I was one of those people who had morning sickness throughout the whole pregnancy. Zofran was my lifesaver. I took it up until the day I was induced!

Just make sure you take it when you first wake up and carry more with you just in case you need it again. I usually just used one per day, but better to be safe than sorry.

And like so many people are saying smells will definitely come into play. I am a huge coffee lover, but during the first and second trimester - I couldn't stand coffee smells. Be aware of what might set you off, you don't want to be sitting there during Mickey's Philharmagic and get sick off the apple tart smell! If the place is full, it might be hard for you to get out of the aisle fast enough.

Have a wonderful trip! And make sure you take plenty of pictures so you can show your little one years from now. :goodvibes

I hate to be the naysayer here, but I went to DW last year at 15 weeks pregnant and felt so horrible. I still had a good time watching my 18 month old have so much fun, but it is something I would not want to do unless it was to witness the joy of another child. Not only can you not ride on most of the rides, but I couldn't enjoy any of the food either because of morning sickness. Plus, I was just so tired all of the time that I felt like I needed a vacation from my vacation!

Pregnancy and morning sickness have always gone hand in hand for me. Espeically until I'm about twenty weeks, so if it were me I would bring lots of snacks! Granola bars, fruit (if you're lucky and that helps the ms), crackers...whatever it takes. You'll probably have some idea what helps you at that point. Carbonated beverages were very helpful for me, too. Sprite will be easy to find at the parks though.

If you are one of the lucky ones, and ms is not an issue, then just eat and drink regularly! On the days that I felt good, it was easy to forget that there was a little one in there. Make sure you get solid rest, and have lots of fun!

Congratulations! You waited a while for this...I'm sure that you are so excited!

I have to disagree with the bolded part. I checked the ride restrictions since that's what my DH initally said, but it's really a minority of the rides and attraction that you can't ride while PG. It's mostly those with height restrictions (thrill rides). You won't be stuck on Dumbo and It's a Small World the whole time. ;)

I also went to disney pregnant at about 14 weeks. DH and I loved it. Yes it was different then our other trips but worth it.

My advice:
1-Plan lots of down time, I was so very tired at this point we went back to the hotel and napped for about 2-3 hours EVERY DAY!
2-Zofan is a wonder drug, if you need, Disney was the only week, even on Zofran that I wasn't sick! I did have to take it twice a day tho!
3-I did stay away from the pregnancy warning rides, except the safari, the real concern was the bumps, so thats more a personal preference.
4-Pack extra underwear and pants/shorts/skirts. Even this early I was expirencing the sneeze/cough leakage from the pressure on my bladder, luckly the worst time we were already back at the resort! But this could make for a very miserable/uncomfortable day!

Goodluck and enjoy your trip!

I went to Disney 16 weeks preg, and had a fine time. It was the first trip where I ever took time really notice all of the wonderful Disney details: signs and props outside attractions, landscaping, colors... I had as much fun people watching as my DH and the kids did on the rides I couldn't do!

You may find that you tire very easily, so don't try to do everything they way you normally would. As other pps have said, takes lots of breaks and stay well hydrated.

And PLEASE DO NOT ignore the warning signs on the rides. Yes, others have taken the risk and come to no harm. But if you ride and something does go wrong, you will never forgive yourself. Be safe rather than sorry.:thumbsup2

Thanks for all of the wonderful advice and congrats, ladies! I haven't had huge problems with actual vomiting, but my stomach is queasy a lot of the time. It seems like if I allow myself to get more than a little bit hungry, I'm hunched over the bowl dry heaving. We are renting a car, so one of our first stops will be Publix where I can load up on tons of snacks for the hotel and parks. I am a huge rides person and LOVE LOVE LOVE roller coasters, so skipping those will be tough, but worth it I know. I guess this will give us a chance to check out some of the shows that we've skipped previously in favor of rides. I am looking forward to checking out the Nemo show at AK, Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular (& Fantasmic if we could get in) at MGM and Disney Wishes at MK. Is the Zofran OTC or do I have to get a prescription for it? 9 days, cannot wait! :cool1:

Zofran is Rx, and your OB should call it in for you. My OB also gives me Phenergan for nighttime nausea. And I don't know why, but Zofran is super expensive and your insurance will only pay for so many per month. At least that's the way mine works. :confused3

We have done a lot of attractions for the first time since having DD. Since we weren't doing the big thrill rides, we discovered Tom Sawyer Island, the playgrounds, and some of the fun kiddie rides like Aladdin. You will have a nice time getting to know WDW for the first time again. :)

Post when you return!

Congratulations! :yay:

Stay hydrated, eat well. Healthy snacks frequently. Don't forget your vitamins--even if they make you sick. Plan to take it slow, you'll be surprised how tired you'll get. As your bllod supply increases, the work you're body is doing is already like climbing a mountain everyday. Buy something special for your baby there. Oh yeah, and HAVE FUN!

Yes the Zofran is prescription and yes it is limited by insurance companies, however you should be able to get enough to atleast get you through your trip and if need be your doctor can call the insurance company and explain the necessity for the medication and possibly get a larger prescription filled.
I had to do this since I was taking 3 pills a day and the insurance limited me to 24 pills in 30 days! (crazy for a 2xs a day medication)

The shows are great distractions for not doing the rides. And you don't have as much waiting time for shows as you do rides (sometimes). We stood in line for 2 hrs to catch Fantasmic in September! Just remember a trip to the bathroom before you get in line! Once they let you in the gates theres no getting back in if you need to leave to use the bathroom!

Goodluck and have fun:)

Ondansetron is a generic prescription drug for Zofran that I'm on right now. It's a lot cheaper than Zofran. I only paid $8 with insurance. Good luck OP! I've been to Disney a lot while pregnant and had a blast every time. I've never been my first trimester, though, but morning sickness is awful for me, so that would be the only thing holding me back.

I went to Disney in September 2009 at 7 weeks pregnant. I talked to my doctor before going and they suggested not riding anything extremely bumpy but said I could ride some of the rides they said not do. They explained that the baby is so small and in such a great amount of protective fluid that not much would harm it at this point. I road the Safari in AKL, Rockin Roller Coaster and Expedition Everest. Do what feels right for you. I knew those rides were not terribly bumpy and I took the advice of my doctor.

We got up early and went to parks for rope drops each day. This allowed us to get a lot of the rides in before the parks got crowded or too hot. We ate lunch and headed back to the room for a 2-3 hour nap each day. I was exhausted all of the time so these naps were key for me. Also, take snacks with you for your room and to have in the parks. It will help out a lot.

Have fun and best of luck!
:)

I went to Disney last January at 22 weeks preggo. I rode most rides except roller coasters (which I don't like anyways) and the Safari. My mom and I were there for 4 days, and we booked it around the parks. I didn't have exhaustion in pregnancy, and we always carried a bottle of water with us. We rested when I needed, wore comfy shoes, and only carried a little wristlet with my ID, money, and phone. I had a great time.
