First univeral trip (7 days) tips needed please

We are going to Universal in 4 weeks and staying at the Royal Pacific for 7 nights. We are traveling with a 3 children (3,4,6) so with 7 nights we have plenty of time to do everything (we are planning on 2 days at sea world and a day at wet and wild also).

This is our first trip to Universal (we did a week at Disney last year and loved it). I learned from last year that the more you know and plan the better.

Can anyone give us some tips about what some "must do's" are? We have a week so we ahve plenty of time to DO IT ALL.

Any helpful tips woudl be great.

Thank you so much. I will put those on the top of the to do list. At Disney we got up early and went to the park, back to the hotel for a long nap and back for the great evening events.

Do you have any suggestions for the evening stuff. I heard 360 is good - where can we get the best view with least crowds? Any other evening stuff at Universal or Sea World?

What about character dining. My both of my boys love anything superhero and my daughter loves all things "girly".

I know the royal pacific has a pool - should we bring sand toys are there some there?

Do you know anything about the transportation between sea world and the resort -the web site is not clear. All it says is it is complimentary? Times, do you need to schedule it?

You are gonna love your time at RPR. We were just there and only had 3 nights and got sooo much done. We did not do a water park nor sea world. But I still think you have tons of time. Our son is 9 and we still go early and come back for a rest/nap then go back when cooler. Make sure to check the park times.

I am so happy to hear the RPR is nice. I was debating about weather to switch to a more expensive resort - it sounds like we made a good decision. Let me ask you a question - we booked a standard room do they have a refridgerator in them? From the weqb site the pool looks great. Is there a cafeteria style dining place at RPR (something quick and less expensive for the kids) or is it all sit down and how are the prices?

@ 8:15 on certain nights is the torch lighting ceremony...when we went for the 4th of July they held it every night by the pool. It might have changed back to 3 nights a week when yall go. Theres a hula dancer and a "worrior dude" who lights the torch and the kids get to participate in a hula contest...winner gets some sort of lei..(not the flower ones) The younger they are, the cuter.
And on Wednesday nights at the Islands (dining room) there is a witch doctor (i cant remember his name) who takes pics with people...im not sure of the time...but there is a sign right outside the dining room.
It was just something different for us to do...

Thanks for the tip - my kids would love to see the tourch lighting and all the action that goes with it. I can't wait to go it sounds so fun.

We did the meal plan so did not eat anything at the resort other than breakfast one morning. But I was told they had a kid buffet for like $5.99 so that is a pretty good deal..

I think your kids will really enjoy the pool area at the RP. It's been several years since we've stayed there, but when we were there they had activities at the pool for children, games, etc.

One of the great perks of staying at a Universal resort is that you can pool hop! So you can visit the pools at the HRH and PB as well. With 7 days you've got plenty of time.

When we stayed in the RP, they had a mini bar in the room. You could request a fridge, but it was extra. That may have changed since we were there in 2002, so someone else may have some more current info.

Your touring plan at Disney will work well at Universal. Get up early, do the parks, then about 1 pm you can go back to the room for a rest, chill out at the pool, and then go back in the evenings.

Bring their sand toys because there is a beach area behind the pool at the RP. Also a sandy area at the HR pool.

The Curious George play area at US is very cute - your kids will enjoy it. Plan a "wet" day at the parks - let them wear their swimsuits and get as wet as they want!

Thanks for the tips. The great pool is one of the things that attracted us to this hotel. I think the kids are going to love it.

Does anyone have info. on a fridge in the room?
