First two weeks in Dec

DH and purchased PAPs during the DVC discount period and we are looking to visit in early December to activate them. I know that these weeks are very busy for DVC. Is there a week that is less crowded? When is the DVC annual meeting? When is Pop Warner football/cheerleading?

We plan to stay at SSR so I'm not stressed about making ressies right now but will want to do it before the 7 month mark.

Pop Warner is Dec 7 to 13. I've been there the same week and it really isn't bad. You see a few small groups around the parks. I'm not sure about the DVC meeting, that really doesn't affect crowds. It's usually Wednesday or Thursday. Thanksgiving is later this year, Nov 28 I think.

Even though you are planning SSR, you probably should think about getting something on the books as soon as possible, especially since the clock will be ticking on those PAP's. As Disboard member drusba has pointed out on more than one occasion, the three busiest weeks for DVC are 1st week of Dec, Christmas week, and 2nd week of Dec, in that order.

Last year when we finally decided to go, I was watching studio availability at AKV and was surprised how quickly things were disappearing. I could have gotten a standard view at about 10 months out, but by 9 months, I had to take a savanna. That ended up being a good thing, but it would have been nice to have those 24 extra points for this year's trip.

This past year the annual meeting was 12/13/12. The Pop Warner is 12/6-12/14 this year. We were there 12/1-12/9/12 and the crowds were manageable. Other than the weekends, easywdw had the crowd level at a 4 for the week.

We went the first week of Dec this year. I didn't notice much of the cheerleaders except for when I dropped my mom off at All Star Music for the first night. We saw a few groups of them around the parks and that was about it....The general crowds were pretty light minus the grand opening of FL.... We loved going in December, and they booked up quick! If you know you are going, I would book the room so you have something... We are looking forward to our Dec 2014 trip!

I agree with the advice to book something now if you want to go during the first 2 weeks of December.

Thanksgiving is a week later this year (compared to 2012) and so availability will be even tighter - there are three weeks of people trying to get into two weeks of availability.

The third week of December should have crowds comparable to the first two weeks (and maybe slightly less) if that helps you. The Holiday crowds won't arrive until 12/21/13

Just pick the week that works best for you - I don't think there will be much difference as far as park crowds go.

We went this past Dec, we originally booked the 9-15 and were able to get our second choice resort BWV, which ended up being a blessing as we LOVED it! Everything was all set and then in June or July DH suddenly wanted to do a weekend in September... We could not find cheap enough flights and did not want to drive to FL twice so I suggested extending our vacation so we add Dec 6-9 at SSR.
Crowds were super manageable (keep in mind we normally go in Sept when the crowd level is 2/3) and we only felt crowded once and that was our last night in Epcot which was a Friday (14th) so probably when guest whose kids let out for Christmas break were arriving.

I'm waitlisted for Dec 2-7 at BWV....I may just switch as soon as my 7 month window opens!! We'll see. It's going to be very hard to get something for that week, or the following week.
If nothing else, I can always go to SSR!!
