First trip

We are heading to The Grand Cal on the 24th and staying in a 2 bedroom villa with some friends. We will have 4 adults and 4 kids. We plan on eating most meals in the villa and picnicking for lunch. Any suggestions would be great. Could you also please comment on bringing picnic lunches and snacks into the park. Should I suggest a specific villa or just take what I get?

Disneyland is a whole nuther animal when it comes to rules. WDW used to not let guests bring in food. Now they do as long as there is no glass and no alcohol and not in a large cooler (just small six pack style cooler permitted). Not sure about DL, though. As for picnic areas, WDW has none. Again, I don't think DL has any either, but I've only been there twice. You'd have to sit on a bench somewhere to eat.

I know you can bring food in to DL but you might want to ask this question on the Disneyland board to get specifics. I believe there is still a picnic area located outside of the DL gates. Another option is to just go back to the Villa for lunch. It's literally a 5 minute walk from the gates. Or from DL you can ride the monorail to the DTD station and it's also approx a 5 minute walk to the Villas.

There are some Villa rooms that look out at the Paradise Pier area of DCA which would also give some sort of view of World of Color at night. There is also a viewing platform you can watch from although it's nothing like watching from the park itself. The other DCA park view looks out at the Grizzly Peak area and will be a little quieter than the PP view. The 3rd view is of the pool area which is nice to see how busy the hot tub is!
