This was my families first trip to disney world. I think we started planning this trip since dd1 was about 4 years old...10 years and 3 kids later we finally made the trip. We planned for 4 nights 5 days and ended up adding an extra day while we were there. Those on the dxdp were myself (mom 29yo with a few years experience) Dh (dad 36) dd1 (14) ds1 (9 and not happy that he could only order from the kids menu) dd2 (4 and my picky eater) ds2 (2yo and will eat anything that doesn't eat him first)
before i start i must apologize for not having any pictures...it rained our first day at the park while we were on jungle cruise and we happened to leave our camera in the stroller...it got wet and was no longer useful. we ended up buying a cheap one but it went thru batteries so fast it just wasn't worth it to take pics of all the food.
On to the food.
Day 1
We checked into our hotel around 11am and got our ktw and since our room wasn't ready for us we headed off to our first lunch reservations at the crystal palace. We were running a few min late and were told that we'd have to wait 10-15 min for a table..we ended up only waiting about 5min. We were sat and drink orders were taken...our waiter seemed a bit rushed but it was busy. As far as the kids went they had the usual of mac-n-cheese and chicken nuggets. all of which seemed good..then each had ice-cream for desert. Not sure exactly what dd2 had but she did say the salmon was moist and very good...dh said the same. I tried a little bit of everything the standouts in my mind were the corn spoon bread and the meats on the carving stations. But by far the best part of the meal was the nutella banana bread pudding. I wish i had gone up for 2nds but the characters were coming by and the kids were antsy to get to the park. The characters were ok but again a bit rushed i was a little disappointed...not sure i'd go back again..maybe to try the breakfast.
Dinner day 1
I had been reading the review boards for months before our trip so it was a big factor on my making dinner reservations at WCC. With a lot of good reviews i figured it was a good bet...unfortunately we were left disappointed. Our waitress greeted us and said her name was lazy susan....well she lived up to her name as we had to hunt her down when we needed something....we always had to ask 2-3 times for a drink refill...as far as the food went it was ok... I honestly don't remember what dh had for his app...i ordered the pear walnut salad...this was delish. dd ordered chips with 2 different kinds of dip which she ended up sharing with my nephew ( there for the first 2 nights but not on the dining plan) for our meal dh and i ordered the skillet...most of this was ok...however the brisket was delish and i could have made a meal of the cornbread alone...I did end up ordering extra cornbread but didn't see it till after our deserts came
dd1 was the black sheep and ordered the pork loin...she's not a big eater but did make a good dent in this so she must have thought it was good. I tasted it myself and thought it was tasty. for desert i ordered the carmel apple crisp that was very good, dd ordered the s'mores cheese cake and again shared it with my nephew...they ate all not saving a bite for me to try
dh orderd a fruit plate and said that it was good and very fresh. oh i almost forgot..ds1 and i were the only ones to order the bottomless shakes...my first one was orange his was vanilla...both very good...his 2nd was carmel and mine was chocolate...he enjoyed his but i took one sip of my and wanted to spit it out...disgusting
I think thats all for today time to get the kids in bed..up next will be day 2 lunch at play in dine @ hollywood-n-vine and dinner and sci-fi
