First Trip to the World Quick Trip Report DH, DS6/ Four Parks / Fishing / Swimming / BCV
Hi All We arrived in Orlando on Saturday, May 1. Headed to Publix at Orange Lake to pick up some groceries. The room at BCV wasnt ready so we headed to Downtown Disney to check out the Lego Store, then back to BCV to check in and then back to DD for dinner at TREX. Our six year old son LOVED TREX, and the food was decent. The portions were large enough that we had about half of it to take back to our room. DS was absolutely mesmerized by everything at the restaurant. Surprisingly to me, I would highly recommend it.
Sunday, May 2 Animal Kingdom
Drove and parked. Made it for rope drop. Picked up fast passes for Kilimanjaro Safaris and then walked on immediately. Then we headed to Asia via the exploration trails and picked up a fast pass for Kali River Rapids. DS 6 wanted to check out Dino Land rides and games, then we headed back over to Safaris and rode on our fast passes (the wait was long by that time). After some more exploring of AK, we ended our day at Kali River Rapids. We all loved it! Wish we could have gone again. Using FPs was great! We passed by so many long long lines.
Swam SAB in the afternoon. Ice cream at Beaches & Cream. DS went to Sandcastle Club while we walked over to World Showcase.
Monday, May 3
We had a 7am fishing excursion leaving Wilderness Lodge. Drove over and parked easy! We caught 7 bass between the three of us. We tried out several spots and the guide was quick to move us if the fish werent biting. Fished off of Poly, WL and Fort Wilderness.
Headed back to BCV for breakfast, a rest and a little swimming. Then went to Epcot for Test Track. We checked out Innoventions (great because it was sweltering that day) Finding Nemo and Crush while we waited for our FP time. We all loved Test Track.
More swimming that afternoon. DS wanted to go back to Sandcastle Club so DH and I walked around the Boardwalk and World Showcase a little more that evening. Illuminations for all of us that night.
Tuesday, May 4
DHS and Jedi Training. Drove all of two minutes from BCV to DHS so great! Made it for rope drop. DH and DS went one way to get in line for Jedi Training and I joined the Toy Story Mania rush for FPs. Several FP machines were breaking down, but luckily, I got our passes quickly and met up with the family at the sweltering Jedi Training Line. We were second in line and it was so cute seeing all the little boys and a few girls talk with each other about what was going to happen. They had Darth Vader and Darth Maul for fighting so they could move more kids through. Our son loved it and thought it was worth the wait. We did TSM, checked out the Power Rangers and the Cars and then the kid was ready to head home. The long wait in the sun really did him in.
Swimming and arcade that afternoon. Back to DD for more Lego store and some ice cream at Ghiradelli. Illuminations that evening.
Wednesday, May 5
The Magic Kingdom! Bussed it over to the Magic Kingdom again so easy! Made rope drop and headed to Tomorrowland Speedway. DS rode it three times with absolutely no wait. Played Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin, then rode Tea Cups, Peter Pan and Haunted Mansion. Took the train over to Frontierland and rode Pirates and Jungle Safari. So much fun. No waits for anything this morning! Ate some lunch, checked out the Castle and Main Street. Watched Monsters Inc Laugh Floor. Caught a parade and headed back to BCV.
Rested and packed in the afternoon and then swam alone in the Quiet Pool for almost two hours while everyone else was at dinner aaaahhhhhhhh! And yes, ice cream again at Beaches.
Personal Likes and Dislikes
Jedi Training is totally worth it if you have a little Star Wars lover. It really screws with your day at DHS, but if youre willing to hop, and/or come back later it will all work out.
Loved the BCV location and the hotel! The staff was wonderful! This is the only place we will stay in the future (hopefully). The 1 BR villa was cozy in a good way and clean. We had a nice view too.
Our son loved the Sandcastle Club. He would have gone back every night if we let him. I think it was relaxing to him after a long day.
I loved the rides at WDW! And Im not a theme park person at all. Some were exciting. Some were beautiful. Some were charming (MK).
Our family really loved Animal Kingdom. The animals are beautiful and the surroundings are so much more appealing than a zoo.
In the future, we will have groceries delivered. It was kind of a pain to shop in a store we were unfamiliar with and I dont think we saved much at all doing it ourselves. Also, the selections werent that great anyway, so I will order groceries in the future.
The kid loved TREX! I was so surprised that it made such an impression on him.
I was very happy with how easy it was to get around with your own car.
SAB was not really for me. It is sooooo crowded so much of the time; however, DH and DS really enjoyed it. We all loved the quiet pool too though, so we spent a lot of time there.
