Stayed at SSR, BCV, and BWV - but first trip to OKW (1BDR) coming up Dec 30-Jan 4. We will have a rental car. So looking for advice regarding room requests and any other tips about the place...

Are there areas of the resort that people like?
Great views?
Specific building oddities - like smoking, handicapped, etc?

What is the bus route within the resort?
Is there a dedicated internal bus?

Anything else we should consider???

THANKS - the DIS rules for info - love it!

If you are going to have anyone sleeping on the pull-out, request a building from 30 and above. These units have an entrance to the master bath through the laundry room. In the early units (below 30) you have to go through the master BR to get in the bath room. All the locations are great, if you don't mind stairs, request a top floor, you have better views.

Have a great trip and enjoy all the space.

Old Key West is like our second home and we hope you like it as much as we do. We like buildings 11-13 because they are close to the big pool, Olivia's and the last stop the busses use on their way out to the parks. Having said that, the Magic Kingdom is the only park we use the busses for. We drive everywhere else. Hope you like it. Bring some candles and champagne for the jacuzzi and some lights to decorate your balcony!

Just got back from OKW last week, and loved it.

We stayed in building 28. It was pretty convenient to the Hospitality House (Olivia's, pool, etc.), with about a five minute walk to HH. It was also just a couple of minutes from the bus stop, which was nice.

Specifically, we stayed in room 2816 (studio). To be honest, the view had to be the worst in the whole resort. Because it was on the ground floor, there was very thick foliage, which basically acted as a brick wall to (what I assumed was) the golf course. So there was really zero view. No big deal, though. We still loved our stay.

Love the BWV but sure like staying at OKW.

We usually take any room we get, because most areas at OKW have something good about them. The only building I really don't like so far is 29. If you need a second door to the bathroom (like when you have someone on the pull out), request a building above 30. If you do NOT want Handicapped accessible, besure to request that as well. There are several different building types at OKW. Since you will be in a lock-off unit (no dedicated 1 bedrooms at OKW), you will be near the ends of a building with just a studio seperating you from the end.

Yes, there is a dedicated internal bus, and it is marked as such, but be aware taht ALL buses must stop at the lobby (Hospitality House) as the last stop before exiting the resort, so any bus can be used as an internal bus.

The bus stop route coming into the resort is:
Penninsular
South Point
Turtle Pond
Miller's Road
Hospitality House

We will be at OKW at the end of January (our very first WDW trip). Thank you for the tip about the access to the master bath from the laundry room. We will have my sister in law on the couch that week (3 adults and 3 kids in 2bdr).
I understand you can have groceries delivered from the resort and they will put things in the room for you. Does anyone know where we can find the shopping list and prices for that?

thank you

We used wegoshop.com for one of our trips...it worked out great. They purchased off a list I gave them. I have also seen other posters who used www.gardengrocer.com. I think garden grocer uses a pick-list off their website. Hope this helps...Have a great trip! :)
