First trip to HHI

We stayed 4 nights at HHI in a 2BR dedicated villa, #1923. We really enjoyed the view, the ocean, and the resort. The room was ready at 2:30 when we arrived. We ate lunch once at Guiseppes (couldn't get near the place for dinner unless you wanted to eat at 4pm, or 11pm). Tried Hilton Head homemade ice cream.
It was interesting to hear people talk about their "home" resorts, and I even overheard one man say that he thought HHI was just a nice as Vero Beach. Service was good, pools were nice, and
CM's were friendly.

One drawback was the way they handled the Tuesday night buffet. I called to register, and was told to show up at 5pm. What they didn't say was that there was a line to get wristbands, and I waited in it for about 1/2, in the sweltering heat of +90 degrees, and +90% humidity. I wish I could have gone over in the morning to sign the charge-to-the-room slip and gotten the bands then.

Food was good, although they ran out quickly and had to replenish often. It almost seemed like they were overwhelmed by the number of people who signed up.

They had a very nice fireworks display after dark; it rivaled something you might see on the 4th of July.

They were overwhelmed on "s'mores" night, too. I think they ran out of marshmellows.

All-in-all, we think we would like to return there sometime. The biggest complaint we got was from our autistic son who didn't understand that we couldn't walk to EPCOT!

We liked HHI also, but will probably go to VB instead in the future. That is because we only have 150 points, and at VB we can stay at Inn Rooms in July for 10 points (was able to book this at 6 months). At HHI it is hard to get anything but a 2 bedroom if you don't own there (and that eats up our points).

But I am glad we got to stay there, and I wish they had 'inn rooms' like Vero, but at least we have Vero as an option.

We are just back last night and stayed in the very same room! We got lucky with the weather, though. It was very nice and not too hot at all. It was great until Charley came along!!

Ok, this is getting weird. WE just got back and we stayed right below you in 1913! We thought the weather was beautiful (check in sun.), not too hot, even the evenings were a little cool. We didn't get any rain til the very last day and I was actually glad to have it cause i love thunderstorms in HH, on the back porch in my rocking chair. We didn't do too many of the activities, mostly rode bikes (weather was perfect for this), swam at the pool and beach (saw Hunter Tylo), mini golfed. Had Guiseppes for lunch also, hardly any wait. Tried Old Oyster Factory for a change (overrated, in all of our opinions). For the steak lovers, we went to Outback (never again, poor service, long wait, dry steak). We all agreed it gets harder and harder to leave HH each trip. I'm in MAJOR PHHD (post hilton head depression) right now.

Donna, my ds was playing in the pool with your ds! Here we didn't even know we were so close to another DISer!

Edited to add: I hope my kids weren't too noisy for you! We try very hard to remind them to be respectful of downstairs neighbors!

LOL! that is too funny! We did hear a few pitter patters from time to time, but we're used to that and we hardly noticed at all. It just reminds me, i'm at HH, lol. Usually, it's US making the noise cause we get the upper floor! I remember someone from DIS being there when we'd be there but I couldn't remember who. Isn't that neat, they played together in the pool. He did mention to me he found some nice friends both AT the pool and playing pool. We noticed this year, the kids seemed very respectful of each other. Every time we went to Big Murggie's and someone was playing, they'd not stay forever and would always let us play, same with ping pong. It's just a great family atmosphere. We took my older son's best friend and he kept thanking us for bringing him there. Already putting next years trip together! Can't Wait!

edited to add: i asked my son about playing with your son and he said, oh mom, he was cool!
