My husband and I go to Disneyland with the family about once a year, but this will be the first trip for both of us without family or kids. We are so excited, we leave in 14 days! Our trip is over President's day weekend...so we know it will be crowded. But our last two trips were over Christmas week 2005, and Spring break 2006 ...so it shouldn't be that different, right?

For those of you who have done the trip solo (without kids), what are some of the things that we should take advantage of? Any special dining to be done? Nighttime things at downtown disney?? Any suggestions greatly appreciated...we are only there three days and want to take full advantage of this special situation for us!!

And the castle should be done by then...right???!

You and your husband are going to have a great time! :lovestruc My boyfriend and I go all the time alone and its something that we can never get tired of...

1. Have you ever dined at Blue Bayou? You might want to considered that because the ambiance is very romantic.

2. The Grand Californian has a Spa and a very nice restaurant called the Napa Rose you might want to look into.

3. There is a movie theatres and a House of Blues (bar/restaurant) in Downtown Disney...

4. California Adventure offers wine tasting at one of their restaurants inside the park...

Mainly just try to soak in your alone time and enjoy just being there. There's something about Disneyland that just makes everything so perfect :cloud9:

Good luck and have fun planning!!

Oh, and I called Disney yesterday and they said the castle should be done by today. I'm going tomorrow to take some pictures so I am keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Dh and I are going to DL in March without our kids as well. We plan to take in some things we wouldn't do/be able to do with kids there. Other than just enjoying the park at our own pace with each other here is some things we will take advantage of:

1) We are having dinner at the Blue Bayou. We may check out other nicer restaurants that we wouldn't take DD's to since they wouldn't get the enjoyment out of them we will.

2) There are some lounges at the DLR hotels that we will check out after we are done in the parks at night. Just to sit, relax and talk and maybe order some munchies.

3)Sleep in!!!

Have a blast with DH!!

Welcome to the DIS, CADreamer! You've found an awesome forum filled with complete lunatics!! :jester:

When we go alone, we like to just linger...linger over coffee...linger over breakfast...linger on a bench.

Don't know how old your kids are, but enjoy rides they don't, shows that they don't, and snacks they like too much and always want a bite of. :rotfl:

How about the F! dessert buffet? If we were going with no kiddos we would do that and Blue Bayou forsure. Have a fun time!

I can picture you parents ditching your kids for DL...as the gates open you do a victory dance and sing: "No more kleenex, no more books, no more children's dirty looks!"

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm going to call Disney right now for lunch reservations at the Blue Bayou. We have never eaten there because it's too expensive with all the kids...who wouldn't enjoy it nearly as much as the character breakfasts anyway. Monte Cristo sandwich is the one to get, right?? :)

Other than that, I think we will definately try to slow down and go through all the shops and stuff on mainstreet that we don't normally get to go through, and see all the shows for once. This is going to be so fun! I'm a little bummed that the railroad and Splash will be down...but there is so much to see and experience. We can't wait...thanks guys!

Ain't that the truth!
On one of my solo trips I had my first treat from the pooh candy store.. and I didn't have to share! :snooty:

Yes, do get a hot chocolate (or other treat) and pull up a rocking chair at the Grand's outdoor fireplace.
Hold hands, share meals, have a smooch on Small World, laugh and be silly.

I had one alone trip with DH, short trip but we packed a lot of magical moments to savor for years to come.
Now that our boys are older, it's easier to have small kidless moments. I love my boys, but the day when DH and I are on our own will be very special.

My Dh and I went a few times before having a family. Ah, those were the days, I miss them. LOL No really I enjoy going as a family, nothing like watching your own kids at DL. But there is a lot to be said about trips just the two of you! :)

When we used to go alone, that was before DTD. Total bummer because we would have completely enjoyed the night life of DTD!

If we'd go alone now I think we'd enjoy some romantic dinners, probably Blue Bayou for sure. Like posted above, be silly, smooch on ISW. Basically just enjoy the alone time! :)

We are "locals" with APs and no kids.

(I will pause while you re-read that again to make sure you got it right. :lmao: )

What do we do? Where to start....

Blue Bayou, lunch or dinner (lunch if you want the Monte Cristo)
Enjoy the fireworks show from in front of the castle
Wander aimlessly down Main Street and / or throughout New Orleans Square
Ride the Monorail over to the Disneyland Hotel and have a drink
Watch the magiciains in the magic Shop
Watch the "oldie" flicks on Main Street
Listen to bands at the Tomorrowland stage.
Enjoy the Dapper Dans perform on Main Street

Go over to DCA and (attempt to) draw at the Animation Studio

Fav. Rides include:
Small World
Pirates
Jungle Cruise
Tiki Room

Just enjoy yourself - it's truly fun for all ages. I could continue to list forever.....
