I will be visiting DL in July with my family. This will be our first trip out west so we are trying to do a lot in 5 days. We will be staying at the DL hotel. We have booked a Hollywood tour for one of our days and would like to squeeze in a trip to Knottsberry Farms and the Wild Bill dinner show. We are flying in and not renting a car. I would appreciate advice on how to get to other places in Anaheim? Has anyone ever done the Hollywood tour or Wild Bill show? Mind you, we will be arriving at DL after a 7-day Disney cruise and about an all-day airplane/airport travel itinerary.

I would strongly suggest renting a car.
How are you getting to Hollywood for the tour?
Knott's Berry Farm is not walking distance from DL.
You do not want to be @ the mercy of the Socal bus system.
We do have the metrorail that will take you to L.A., but I don't know the details on it & you still need to get to the train station.
You may want to cancel the Hollywood tour & do something else on that day. I llived in Hollywood & believe me, you're not missing anything. Also, you don't want to be there @ night.

Thanks! We booked the Hollywood tour through our AAA rep and it included transportation....so I assume that a bus or shuttle would pick us up from our hotel. I was hoping that there were shuttle bus that picked up from the Disneyland Hotel like they do in WDW. When we stayed at the Grand Floridian, a Mears shuttle took us to Universal studios. I guess I'll have to re-think this.

You will really need a car to get around if you plan on doing things outside of disney.

knott's is an easy drive but not walking distance. i suppose you could get a cab, you would have to check on rates, etc.

I agree about Hollywood--it is not the glamourous place they make it out to be in the movies! I would go to Universal before I took a tour of Hollywood.

Wild Bill's is Ok, but you would get more for your money doing disney at a leisurly pace and taking time to see everything they have to offer. don't miss the golden horseshoe (billy hill and the hillbillies) and alladin at DCA. they are much better than will bill's that you will pay alot more to see!

just my humble opinion

I'd go to Medeival Times instead. It's much better. My husband went to Wild Bill's years ago & didn't like it. He loves MT & the food is much better also.

Oh yeah, Billy Hill & the Hillbillies & Aladdin!! I forgot. Don't forget, The Blue Bayou Fantastmic Dessert show. The food @ DTD is great too!

DW & I took a Hollywood tour back in March. We booked it through DL Travel. A bus picked us up at PP & took us to the tour headquarters in Anaheim(5 minute ride) where we caught another bus for the actual tour. At the end of the tour, the driver dropped us off at PP.
