HARRY POTTER RULES    :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Hi HarryPotterFan, and Welcome to the DIS! We're so glad you found us! :)

You'll find so many great suggestions here just by browsing through the topics (and the various boards). Is there something specific you're interested in knowing? Are you still in the planning stages, or have you moved into making dining arrangements and resort accomodations? Are your kids 'thrill seekers'? Do you want to go full force in the parks or do you prefer to tour at leisure? How long do you have and what time of year are you going? All those things will help folks give you the best suggestions possible.

In general: decide (roughly) which park which day, have a list of Must Do's, know how to use Fast Pass, take breaks as you need them, and set up a couple of dining PS's. Disney can be so overwhelming, even for folks who've been there many times. If you relax and enjoy it, the magic will definitely find you. :)

Have a great trip!

I second the suggestion for a "must do" list. WDW is HUGE and there is SO much to do. I made a list for each park and we took them with us each day. Do not miss Illuminations:Pinkbounc at Epcot Fantasmic!:Pinkbounc at DS or Tinkerbell's flight before Fantasy in the Sky at MK:Pinkbounc Hope you have a wonderful time-you are going to LOVE it!!!!

Arrive early.
Use Fast Pass.
If you are staying on-site use Early Entry.

Try to take an afternoon break. Not only will it refresh the kids, but also the adults.

Let the kids have time to do fun things like--run thru the mist machines at Epcot or see characters.

Here's my suggestion to add to the list:

Go to the local bookstore and buy a guide book to Walt Disney World.

Passporter
Unofficial guide
Birbaum's

These are all good guide books, though with different points of view.

These books will give you much information from reading them and they will help you to form the questions you will want to ask here.

Have a great trip!!

Buy the WDW for kids by kids and WDW for teens. Let the kids read about the different parks, rides, restaurants etc.

Now a few questions

Kids .. boys girls or both

Risk takers or more cautious

Adventureous eaters or chicken fingers and burgers

Staying on site or off

how many days in the parks do you plan on

I would second the idea to get some guidebooks they will help tremendously with your planning. Especially helping you to get a good idea of what you "must do" and what you can do if you have time. I love Passporter and the new one just came out so that might be an option. Unofficial Guide is another good one that I use and you can pick that up at your local bookstore. This site is also an unbelievable wealth of information that will be very helpful. Hope that you have a great trip and have lots of Disney Magic!

Welcome to the Dis. I also would recommend a guidebook. They are very helpful.

Once you have read a guidebook the Dis a wonderful place help you understand how to put your plan into action.

Also read some of the trip reports. I have learned so much from reading these reports.

My main suggestion is to accept that you won't see everything you want to; if you realise this then your trip will be more enjoyable. Remember, you can go back (and probably will!).

Ask to ride in the front of the monorail.

Take the boat to FW to the Petting Zoo and to relax. Try the buffet at FW (one of the real bargains).

Plan a character meal.

Skip Beverly at Ice Station Cool in Epcot.

Maybe try the Make Your Sundae at the Land in Epcot.

Visit Downtown Disney.

Don't try to do it all -- no one can!!

I agree with not trying to do it all. We took our first trip last April. We were on a mission to do everything. Needless to say we actually left the parks early everyday because we were tired and stressed. We are going back in alittle over a week. This time we are going to be relaxed and just see what we can. We are going to take time to absorb the disney magic this time.
Also, a break every couple days really helps.

Get there at opening if at all possible....take a break in the afternoon then pick it back up in the evening. Also, in the guidebooks are maps of the parks. It really helps to know the lay of the land before you go....and what attractions are in those lands. Kinda have a plan...but be willing to deviate from it if need be.
