I'm trying to decide on the last week of September or the last week of October. I will be going solo and staying offsite about a 15 minute walk to the resort. I am very familiar with WDW crowds and holidays but not with Disneyland. I've done some research on the above weeks and can't really see a difference between them. If this was your once in a lifetime trip to DL which week would you pick? End of September or end of October? It's very important for me to see the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay.

Are you asking for 2019 or 2020? If it's the former, then I'd suggest October might work out better at this point.

I only ask because your signature says you're planning a trip for Disneyland in September 2019 and that you're planning on WDW for this time in 2020.

Unfortunately I had to postpone my DL 2019 trip to 2020. WDW will be postponed to 2022.

If you want your best chance at Halloween Time merchandise, choose the end of September. By the end of October, much of the special merchandise, especially Halloween Party specific things, may be long gone. Be prepared for crowds in September and October. Halloween Time is a very popular season at DLR (for good reason)!

I vote for end of September because October gets busy with all of the schools in AZ, UT, and parts of CA where kids have a week off for "fall break." And a lot of those families go to Disneyland.

If you go at end of September, then you'll get the best of both worlds...Halloween decorations & stuff are up, Halloween party on select nights (if you're interested), yet lower crowds than in October.

Another vote for end of September. The halloween stuff will be up, but less crowds than actual halloween.
