Whoo hoo! Just booked first trip "home" to SSR Nov. 1 through 8. We are getting two studios--one HA because my Mom needs the roll-in shower arrangement (the CM went offline to make arrangements like I have heard they do). I just went on DVCmember.com and the reservations are there--however there is no mention on either accommodation about it being handicapped accessible. Do I need to worry or does this nor normally show up online? Or do I need to wait and get the hard-copy confirmation and it will show up there?

Thanks everyone~!

I've heard that rooms blocked by Special Services do not show the notation online, nor will it necessarily show on your written confirmation. It is in the Disney computer system

It never shows up online but usually shows up on your written confirmation.

"Accessible accommodation guaranteed"

However, my most recent reservation for April doesn't show this. I've called them three times to check and had them reissue me written confirmations. Both times the CMs tell me the block is listed in the computer. They don't know why it's not showing up on the written. I did notice my initial requests of "Grandstand and near bus stop" are coming up as requests.

I'd wait until you get the written confirmation and see if its there. If not, call back and confirm MS has it on their records. You can always ask for a reissue of the written. Maybe remove any other requests you have. There may be a line limit on the printing preventing that bit from showing up. I suspect that's my problem.

You call also call Special Needs directly and confirm they have the block. They need to reservation number and can check.

Thanks--one more question (a little off topic, but your response raised it)--when I made the reservation I did not request a specific area or near the bus stop etc.--can I call back and do that?

Certainly, and the sooner you call to make a request, the better. Just make sure Special services makes the same request.

They tell you not to do that since it may lead a room assigner to forget the room block. It's never ever supposed to happen, but I have heard tell the BWV room assigner did just that before. The guest had to go to SSR instead as all HA rooms were occupied.

Another thing to consider is that when Special Needs blocks the room they block it in a certain location. So you need to make that request when you make the reservation. Of course, they don't guarantee it'll be in that location (rooms go down for maintenance, etc.).

They are quite comical about it. Ever since I learned they block the room location too I've asked where my room was blocked. But no one will tell me. Policy since the room may be changed later. I tried to get the gal from Special Needs to tell me where my April room was blocked today but no amount of bribery or pleading got the info out of her.

My conclusion is that the request shouldn't hurt. If you're concerned just call Special Needs later and make sure the block is still in place.
