So... DH and I are taking our first trip down October 10th as DVC members. We are traveling with my parents and dd (who will be six motnhs old at the time). As I begin to obsess over prepping for this trip I'm starting to think about the food/ necessities shopping that will need to be done. I know that there are several locations to get succh shopping done in the area... but I have no idea where they are!!! Knowing how knowledgable all you DVC Disers are, I figured I ask for advice here. Where do you guys recommend shopping? I'm looking for someplace I can get all sorts of stuff (not just food) and not pay through the nose. I've heard mention that there's a super Walmart somewhere in the area. Can anyone give me a clue how to get there? (BTW... I am one of those clueless people who always used Disney transport... meaning I don't pay attention to road signs and have no idea what the streets are called!) We're staying in SSR. Any help you can give would be GREATLY appreciated.:worship:

We really like both Publix and Walmart. Both are a snap to get to from SSR! (BTW, avoid Goodings where you will pay through the nose!)
  • From the exit of SSR (the main exit with the guard shack) take a right.
  • At the end of the road take another right.
  • Turn left at the first light where a left turn is possible (Hotel Plaza Blvd.) and follow to the first light at State Road 535.
  • At this light take a right onto SR 535.
  • Follow 535 for a couple of miles and you will come to WalMart on your right.
  • Another mile or two down the road, Publix will be on your left, just before the intersection of 535 and 192.

Have a fantastic trip!

We have stopped off the Orange Blossom Trail on our way from the ariport but if you don't have a car, how were you going to get there? You can walk to Goodings which is near DTD, but it's expensive.

I agree w/ the above posts.........Goodings is expensive! I've never been to the Walmart in the area but my June trip was all Publix supply and it was just fine.

CraftyMouse... thank you! Clear and concise for the directionally challenged!;)

Donna M... we're renting a car so we'll have a way to get there.

I vote for Publix, and when not on the dining plan I will do our shopping there!
