I visited Disney World many times during my childhood and always loved the place. My grandparents lived in Florida and my family took an excursion to Disney almost every other time we visited. I have fond memories of staying at the Poly, Fort Wilderness and a couple of the Downtown Disney resorts (it was Walt Disney World Village back then). The last time I went with my family was my senior year in High School (1987).

After college, getting married, having kids, etc. I didn't really think about Disney that much... Until last year! My mother-in-law treated the whole family to a week at POR. As soon as she approached me with planning the trip, I felt that old excitement start to return. I found that I became obsessed. I surfed every website, I read every travel book, I planned and planned. (My mother-in-law actually ended up turning the planning over to me).

Finally in June 2004, we arrived in Orlando. The trip was fantastic! We had a wonderful stay at POR, we visited 7 attractions in 5 days thanks to the Park Hopper passes. My children were 9, 6, and 2 at the time. I was afraid the 2 year old would hold us back, but he did great. We came back to the room every afternoon for a swim and nap, and then went back out to the parks in the evening. It was our best family vacation ever!

However, now I have become obsessed. I am planning another trip for next year. Since it is cold here in Ohio, I pass the time reading all the reviews and discussions on this site. I can't seem to get enough. My husband thinks I have lost my mind. But I love the fact that I can get on here and get my FIX for a while.

Thanks for all the great information! I love it!

I made my first trip as a "grownup" this past September. I, too, had made several trips with my family when I was younger...up until I was 16 years old. Then, after graduating high school, going away to college, working full time, parents getting divorced, getting engaged to a NONDISNEY man(who is now an EX), etc...I lost touch with disney.

I have great memories of all my childhoood trips and so last year when my new BF mentioned making a trip to WDW, I went nuts!!! I was so excited! We started planning our trip in March and went in September. It was his first time staying onsite so I felt it necessary to show him EVERYTHING!!! He loved it! We are planning another trip for this september.....and, I started planning this one...the day we got home from the last one.

He thinks I'm crazy but I know he likes it!
