Hi all,

My sister had surgery on April 21st and we will be going back to Disney exactly six months after her surgery. I know she'll be better than she is now but I'm worried about her getting hit, she had a hard time recovering and still has a lot of pain in/around her stomach.

I know a little bit about GACs from reading the DIS but I'm not sure she'd qualify for one. Like I said I'm worried about her getting hit while waiting in line - happened to us often enough through the years but it wasn't an issue until now. I also worry about the pushing/trampling during things like getting in/out of Fantasmic. I know rides with lap bars are out. She knows how to manage with food so I'm not too worried about that...
We were hoping to do the Sea Aqua tour at Epcot, but would she be able to handle the things strapped to her waist/back ?!

We were also hoping to go to Discovery Cove but I just realized that it may not be a good idea, dolphins are cute, but getting hit in the belly by one of them would not feel so good!

Any input appreciated !!!

From anyone else who had surgery 6 months before. I know after my GBS surgery I had no issues where I needed to take it easy physically...In fact my doctor encouraged me to "experience" life. She should be totally healed even if she had an open procedure rather than laproscopic.

I would have her consult her doctor. Only she and her doctor can make an informed decision.

Not sure that a GAC will be any help. Only a few attractions have separate waiting areas. I've waited in many queues at WDW and I've never been hit in the stomach by someone. If you are very worried about this, then you and the rest of your party could create a bumper of people around her so she is surrounded by only your group.

If she has stamina or mobility issues, Disney recommends a wheelchair or electric scooter (which will help keep people away from her in crowds).

I would also suggest she check with her doctor. My MIL had her surgery a year ago, and she was quite sore for a month or two, but is doing fine now.

I agree a GAC will not be much help. Perhaps she will want a wheelchair to sit in while in queues/crowded areas to help create a "buffer zone." I know that helps with me and my wheelchair...

Thanks for the tips.
She had complications so she is not recovering as fast as she should be, it's been over 2 months and she still has very severe pain in one area.
